I was the first to mention it in the other thread but a lot of people there seemed to hear it too: Noels voice was really a bit rough. Or at least rougher then we're used to. Now I only heard IIHAG and Dream On, but in EOTR I felt like he was pushing his voice really hard, and in Dream On he really wasn't singing very well. It's not Kermit, by far, but still, it wasn't that good either.. So far I'm not complaining cause I prefer a little bit rough voice over the overly smooth Noel voice that we're used to, especially for the 'rocky' songs, but I'm curious about how his voice will hold up, cause it's only like the 7th gig or something today! And his North-American tour is quite busy, 10 gigs in 14 days! I really hope he'll find out how to use his voice for the best to deal with singing 20 songs each night in stead of 5. It's a BIG difference. And I don't think one can predict if a voice is capable of doing it or not, until you actually do it. I just hope he won't get into any vocal issues like Adele or The Vaccines etc I'm sure Noel can handle it though (at least I hope so!)

It is, but for some reason it made Wonderwall/Talk Tonight sound so good.

I thought he sounded raspy at first but his voice actually seemed to get better as the gig went on. Sounded amazing on the acoustic songs and didn't hear anything wrong after the first 4 songs or so really.

Yeah it isn't as good as it could be. These songs would sound amazing if he had his Familiar to Millions voice right now.

I only heard EOTR and Dream On, but I just noticed from the first minute I tuned in (during EOTR) that it wasn't sounding right! I'll be listening to the other stuff tomorrow and hope and pray you're right about the other songs

He still has a day of rest inbetween but I think he sounded fine. IIHAG/TDOYAM seemed slightly off but they really high pitch and harder to sing.

If his voice got better though the gig what he could probably use is some vocal warm-ups. When I was a child in choir my conductor was a nazi about vocal warm up and vocal care and not preforming with cold vocals cords and not eating dairy for however many hours before performance. I don't know much...but she was classically trained and I still remember her lectures before every performance and it's been 15 years.
In Oasis his voice warmed up before he sang lead because of backing vocals. And in the acoustic shows the vocal duties were a lot easier.
I don't think it's a case of his voice failing from overuse. It him not preparing it properly.

It definitely improved after the first 4-5 songs. He was pretty rough in the beginning but sounded as good as ever the rest of the way. He was really forcing it in the beginning it seemed too, like he was caught up in the moment or something. Once he got to IIHAG he was fine.

i think it was his second gig where i noticed he was starting pull away from the mic a bit(not as much Liam did with latter-day Oasis) but he was cutting certain lyrics short. I mean, like songbirdsally said, it's one thing to sing 5 songs stretched out over a 2 hour period, and another to sing 20 nonstop.

He should give up the fags. He is showing clear signs of a singer smoker. Raspy & like he needs to cough to clear flem. I 1st picked it up when Noel did a radio performance of IIHAG.
He only started like this last night, once he had warmed up, the gig sounded mega to me!

Sounded a bit rough in the first one, then fantastic. He is doing rockier shows than expected so he won´t sing as mellow as in the acoustic shows, and that´s good with me.

Agree with Songbirdsally to an extent.
I was a bit worried for the first few songs, thinking "shit, is he gonna do a Liam", then out of nowwhere he pulled it out of the bag for the last half, i was drunk but i remember supersonic sounding fucking amazing, wonderwall, freaky teeth, talk tonight, and even WAL all sounded immense, maybe it was nerves?
I think as his touring progresses he will start to take his voice / throat seriously, it's new to him, so i think the vocal coaching / warming up, and the honey will be coming out.

but noel smoked, drank and did hard drugs thru the first half of oasis, and his voice sounded fine back then perhaps it's a combination of getting older, and singing every song now at a gig ?

He's doing a full show regularly for the first time ever. He had a 7k bar bill the other night He's 44. Calm down.

I think there's a big difference between someone singing 5 songs a night than singing a full set, hence why his voice was so amazing. But when it comes down to it, when he's singing a full set he experiences the exact same conditions as Liam does, just not to the same degree.
He sounded really strained last night, and its not just from the bar tab because I noticed the exact same thing on the youtube videos.
Just listen to dont look back in anger from 2006 or 2009 and compare it to the one from last night. Big difference. He couldn't even sing the falsetto's on dream on or TDOYAM.
