...here in the states, im calling it now for the record.
i have always thought it's all about promotion and i think the label has done a very good job, let's have in mind that this is a guy that's pushing 46 here, that's no easy task. And even though the reviews here in America haven't been stellar(AMG/Spin/Rolling Stone), none of that shit will matter in the end and Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds will be in the Billboard 200 top 5 when it's all said and done.
Hey, i may be going out on a limb here but let's hope i am right.

#5 sold ~70k last week.... you know the numbers change on a week to week basis. DOYS sold what, around 55k its first week? that only got them #5 but on a different week, it may have been #3, it'd been just as likely for it to be #8 or even worse.

What promotion have you seen? I live in the Metroplex as well, and I've seen absolutely nothing...

Not happening. Top 10 maybe if it's a bad week. More likely top 20.

I live in the Metroplex as well, and I've seen absolutely nothing... really, that's awesome dude. what part of North Texas? and to answer your question, i've started seeing a lot of internet promo all over the place. You obviously wont see the kind of advertising done in the UK but it's just a hunch i have. again, let's hope i'm right with my prediction.

More likely top 20. let's make this interesting and put something on the line, you know a little bet. since i don't like you and you don't like me.... maybe we could do a signature mention alluding to how awesome the other person is for say... a week? that could be fun, no?

No chance. Oasis placed top 5 with the Oasis name and a single that got a lot of radio play (TSOTL was pretty big rock radio hit).
Are you just posting this so that when Noel's album comes in at 18 or something, you can go "wow that is shocking. Didn't think it would do so poorly."

Yes, i am first a fan of Oasis but i am also a fan of Noel and a fan of Liam individually. In any case, i believe all that stuff you said about Oasis having a popular single, etc... it's all garbage imo, it made no difference because the only people who bought the album were the hardcore fans.

You endorsing me in your signature would only lessen my reputation in the board. And since I would win that is the only thing that would happen. A simple "I told you so" is sufficient IMO.

Noel's album will do quite well really. 1. There is nothing of real mention coming out next week. 2. The large markets have been playing IIHAG with some regularity. 3. Even casual Oasis fans will go buy it similar to BDI, because they know Noel and know that it will be worth the price paid for it.
He'll be fine. Not to mention, he'll be here touring during the week of release, so those markets will benefit from that uptick in promotion. Lgfaver might be on to something here.
We'll just have to wait and see.

I'd be pretty surprised with Top 10. Would be shocked off my balls if he hits the Top 5.

you propably right cause fans in US already have it and i m not sure that everyone is gonna buy it now in the first week of it s release...but if the chart position is good enough then it might give a few more promo out there to the album and make people (not only oasis fans) still talking about it, in a world that before an artist release his album people already r talking about his next release!!!

I have seen ZERO promotion for this album here in LA. and out here you normally see at least one or two billboards for even the most randomest band. A friend of mine went to the Filter magazine screening of Noel's making of the album arrived early to make sure she would get in. There's absolutely no fans out there. Finally someone working the event came out, tells her it's at capacity sorry you're SOL. Bummed she stayed there milling around when suddenly one kind soul working the door let her and her guest in, telling her that they were the ONLY fans that showed up. Upon entrance she counted about 30 ppl inside all off them working for some sort of media outlet complaining of how lame it was they HAD to be there for their jobs. Apparently Sardy was there but no actual fans. After hearing this and seeing no promo work out here in LA makes me think the album will chart in the TOP 100...if
