this is not a thread to attack Noel or DBI short answer ; no and by the same token if BDI played oasis songs then maybe they could progress to arenas..but they are doing it on there own basically when you put it perspective the selling out of the 02 arena is probably down to the 9 oasis tunes over the new album It's like asking if Jesus Christ would have been a pervert if he'd had a crisp packet stuck on his head.

A better question would be "If Noel didn't play Oasis songs on this tour, would he sell-out arenas on his next tour?"
The first tour(s) were always going to sell well, particularly because of his popularity, partly because of the intrigue of seeing him without Oasis. The novelty factor won't be as strong on the next tour once everyone who wanted to see him has done.
To be fair to Noel though, a large chunk of gig attendees will be casual fans who won't have followed the setlist and won't know if he's playing Oasis songs or not (although he'll probably be expected to). So I don't think its as clearcut as saying he definitely wouldn't.
Noel is more popular than Beady Eye though, they've found their level regardless of whether they play Songbird or not.

hard to say really. I am not sure he would have filled arenas in March if he hadn't played Oasis songs from the start. I agree that based on the quality of the album, next autumn he could have.

true, let's not forget that people have an enourmous faith in him and would go and see him to hear songs they never heard before.
In any case, probably to be on the safe side, he would have sticked to small venues for a bit longer, maybe.

Noel needs to back up his project with Oasis tunes coz he knows his album is not enough to do so. SAD...

Isn't this argument a moot point? He wouldn't be where he is now if it wasn't for his past success. The same can be said for all of us.
Those Oasis songs being played act as enforcing and strengthening his resume.
To take the analogy further: When you have your next job interview, simply tear up the resume in front of the employer, no matter how good it is, and say "Bollocks to the past. I'm not going to use any of the skills I gained prior to this new job, if hired. Instead, I will start from scratch."
Would you get the job? No.
To be successful you build upon your past success. Why should Noel be any different? After all, he wrote those songs. They belong to him.
It shouldn't be seen as a negative aspect to use previous successes as a building block to future ones.
#Rantover.

although I agree with you NL4E, I don't see any harm in discussing the OP's question. It doesn't imply Noel shouldn't play Oasis songs. It will remain unanswered anyway.
