Anyone else completely underwhelmed by the album version? It's so mediocre. Especially the ending with the annoying and loud screeching of instruments. I vastly prefer the simplistic demo version.
ASGOG should have been the closer imo

I don't think ASGOG would be as good as STC as the closer. That last minute is like the rewinding of the whole album and works perfectly in its role.

I get the feeling STC would be much more appreciated if Noel had never said it was the best song he'd ever written. If there were no expectations, I think people would like it more, especially the finished version. I think it sounds awesome and I love the end, especially the very end when the music stops and you just hear the choir quietly fading out.

Umm, you see it different from me. I think the album version is far, far superior in quality to the demo.

The album version is too soft, I miss the darker edge of the demo version, and with Liam it would be better IMO.

The demo was dull as fuck. I was well shocked how Much he made the album version better.

I quite like the demo, it has something haunting about it. The album version is the worst song on there for me. Just sounds like Noel dug out the demo and threw as much shit at it as he could. I hate the choir on that song and just like the OP the outro is a weird mess also think Noels vocal sounds a little buried.

I don't like STC. the only thing I liked about the demo was the solo and I feel it's ruined on the album version.

I prefer the album version but I loved the demo's solo so kinda miss that but that's all.

Much better than the demo. Noel added so much more depth to it. And he doesn't sound whiny anymore.
The solo at the end doesn't sound too impressive on cheap headphones, and even worse on laptop speakers, but it's actually pretty good when hooked up to decent speakers......

I liked the demo but kinda agree that it was dull as well, I kinda forced myself into liking it. Loved the ending of it.
The album version is much better; it got me straight away, and I love the ending even more.

Another vote for "the demo was dull as fuck, the album version is better."
I don't think its anything special though. I actually think that, Record Machine and IIHAD are probably my 3 least favourite songs on the album.

This. Stop the Clocks and turn the world around i.e. the last minute is a fast paced rewind of the album back to the start.

I like the demo, I agree about its haunting quality...but for a final release, the album version is best.
I love the outro too! It's my favourite part of the song and its way better than the outro of the demo.

i love the demo version and its haunting feeling. much much better than album version.
imo, unfortunately one of the greatest Oasis tracks ever, turned into just one good album track.
my biggest Noel dissapointment ever.
btw, somehow album version reminds me of "Little James"!!!put that track together and listen...

the demo is boring. glad he added an orchestra to the song. it's perfect in the role as a closer

^hmm...Noel could add anything in that track and still sound very good, cause its a great track.and i still like it/love it... ...but with that (album) version Stop The Clocks is not the extraordinary track we were waiting for, the mindblowing Noel's moment musically and emotionally.it lost that magic & dark feeling of the demo. now, its just an album track, a track that could fit in "standing OTSOG" and make "Little James" sound like a masterpiece.

I'm really sad to hear some of you don't appreciate this song. I love everything about Stop the Clocks, I wish he did it live. The album version is great, the demo considering that it is just a demo is incredible, if you think that Noel had already pretty much finalised the song with that beautiful ending. That really shows what a great songwriter he is when he is inspired. 10/10 for me.
