...last night i had a cracking in depth discussion/debate with Dave Sardy at The Forum. We spoke about 10-15 mins, really lovely bloke who clearly loves talking about music. I put across to him that although Noel is my favourite songwriter ever, i fear his legacy gets slightly undermined by the tiresome Beatles references such as the ones on Shock of the Lightning and Simple Game of Genius. He said 'What's wrong with referencing The Beatles?!' and I said because it was 40 years ago, and he is already slagged off enough as it is for blatant rip offs. I even quoted that Robbie Williams line that i read on here that 'Noel has run out of other peoples ideas' and he was so interesting debating the merits of it. I think he basically agreed but kinda didn't wanna say, ha. He said 'thing is, you don't tell Noel Gallagher what and what not to do....' then i said 'But that's your job! You're accountable, these things take place on your watch!' and he agreed but said it was just up to Noel. He also said Noel does it for the American audience as he claimed the Americans love all Beatles references. I was trying to think of you guys and what else to ask him, what was interesting is that he'd never heard of Simple Game of Genius, saying 'which track is that? i only produced a few of the tracks". genuinely nice guy who, rather than fobbing me off as a fan, actually started asking me questions and stuff and we had to stop as we were the last 2 in the auditorium and the steward moved us on! Thought you's may be interested

Thanks mate that's a cool story. I bumped into the oasis roadie/tour dj Phil Smith before the gig at the zenith, Munich in feb 09. Had no idea what to ask him and then about five minutes later I had loads of questions i wished I'd asked.

Like, "How the f**k did that blue hat stay on your head while you were speedboating around in Australia with Liam?" Noel is probably still thinking about it to this day! ;D Phil Smith is a great guy! And a great DJ! I've never seen someone DJ as enthousiastic as him!
