Does this include Oasis or not? Because obviously, most of us would offer up DM, MG, TM, or maybe Time Flies.

This is very tough.
If somebody asks me to recommend one Oasis album, then I would say Definitely Maybe cos it's their chapter 1.
For non-Oasis/Gallaghers, I probably say (for now) All Mod Cons by The Jam.

The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses, complete and utter classic, I'm so glad Noel introduced me to them

Tough one. I'd say The Verve - Urban Hymns.

Would largely depend on the taste of the person. If he/she weren't too square, I would recommend Smother by Wild Beasts.

No human being should pass through this life without hearing the serenity that is "Bridge Over Troubled Water" by Simon & Garfunkel. True classic.

I've mentioned it in another thread, but I think anybody who hasn't listened to Laughing Stock by Talk Talk should. It's extremely experimental and accessible at the same time. Also, Thom Yorke clearly is a fan. Have a taste

Totally agree on the Ocean Rain selection - great great album, as is the Bunnymen's first album Crocodiles which is just as good in my opinion. Also Thuperthonic is bang on about Wild Beasts album also.
I'm going to try an obscure hidden great but if you're keen on folky pop then try Roddy Woomble - My Secret Is My Silence. Really beautiful album.

As an Australian I feel obliged to offer up You Am I's 'Hourly Daily'. It's a Kinks like song cycle about suburban life, a lot like Modern Life Is Rubbish or Parklife.
Here's 'Soldiers' from that album.
