My non Oasis loving friends like it the most, saying it's the most interesting thing Noel has done. Same with the reviews who tend to be anti-Oasis. I guess they appreciate a change in direction, while most of us prefer vintage Noel - I know I sure do.
But I have to say, this song has grown greatly on me since the album has been released.
It works so much better as an album track rather than a stand alone song. And from the youtube bootlegs, the needed dimension has been added live - kind of like how TBWTL was treated (average in the studio, but played to full potential live).
It still doesn't go anywhere, and needs to be more fully developed, but I like it much more now.
SBAJF remain my least favorite of the album, but even that has grown on me.
Least favorite, in this order: TDOYAM, DO, WAL, SBAJF....think that's remained constant, but I like them all much more. Not really a weak track on the album.
All the other 6 are frankly stunning. I'm convinced this is a classic album from the Chief. But I digress....

I have spoken to at least 6 non-Oasis fans who have told me it's the best Gallagher song they have heard since the 90s. My housemate who is into the Foo Fighters and RHCP etc but not Oasis at all asked me the last day, "What's that song on the ad promoting the new Liam Gallagher album?". I proceeded to correct him, tell him the name of the song and he proceeded to buy it, becoming the first Oasis related song he has ever purchased. It's also the biggest selling Gallagher related single in the UK since The Importance of Being Idle, for people that like pointless stats

It's a fucking tune. Loads of my mates love Oasis (not quite as much as me) and they all love it. People I know who aren't too keen on them all love this tune as well. This bird from work bought the single and she hates Oasis.

Still annoys me that it doesn't go anywhere, one of the weakest songs on the album in my opinion.

People saying "it doesn't go anywhere" don't get it. You're meant to (take drugs and) dance to it.

By definition and purpose dance songs go nowhere.
This is to all intents and purposes a dance song. There you go.

It's a cracking tune and the live version is even better. The only thing that needs to grow here is NL4Es musical horizon.

yap... and one thing also about WAL.
In PES 2012 - Pes Edit Patch - they put the song on the patch. That will help for sure also.

I like it but I like A Simple Game Of Genius better. That song's a belter and has great melody.

It appears to me that the reviews that have been generally negative always pick out this song as the saving grace on the album..just an interesting point. Personally, i didn't really like this song, but it has really grown on me and I now consider it one of the strongest on the album. Considering I thought it was the weakest at first says something. It's also sticking around in the charts (#21 this week I believe) so it shows the public and non-Oasis fans are digging it (to an extent)

Also, my sister who despises Oasis (except for Songbird for some reason) absolutely loved the song and bought the album on the strength of the song. She'll probably be disappointed when she hears the rest of the album but oh well! Shows that the song appears to be the most cross-over track and may be a very positive sign for his AA album?

People saying "it doesn't go anywhere" don't get it. You're meant to (take drugs and) dance to it. Even then, it never really reaches that excitement point that all good dance tracks should have. (The kind that makes everyone around you's attractiveness go up by 2 points as long as they are moving one or more limbs - making it the best time to score. Or grab a great ass and run, since everyones into it) But yeah, couple people I've played it to like it better than other tracks. Still weakest song on the album for me, but I usually don't skip it - it sounds allright between all the others.

That, I'm willing to go along with. The ending bit where the chords change doesn't take things up a notch like it's supposed to.
