Sounds to me like he's just side-chained compressed it to fuck on the beats so its ducked out enough of the original drums for him to work with n add dancy drums. Probably why he called it a 'beta' remix as well, probably because its not an official remix, plus it obviously isn't the full thing cause its too short and just fades out.

Its not my cup of tea, but I'm sure it has its place...

Hello, this is the guy who created the remix, thanks for your comments, both good and bad. As for the link above, that is a different Darren smith. I am not a DJ. I am a producer for my own band called New Aged Travellers. I also do a lot remixes. As for the AKA what a life remix, there where no multi-track stems available, but when I heard the original track I thought it would make a good dance track. So after EQ-Filtering and compression trying to isolate the vocal witch is almost impossible as the piano among other instruments take up the same frequency range. So what you hear is hopefully the potential of a good remix idea. And not an official remix hence the word(Beta) if I had access to the stems I could and would create a far superior mix, and would incorporate all the original and new elements to create a more polished and balanced mix if you would like to hear any more of my music.
