Noel Gallagher is reportedly angry with Sony after the label apparently chose to release Oasis’ new single ‘Lyla’ against the band’s wishes.
In an interview with Time Out magazine, Noel said the band would have picked a different first single from their forthcoming ‘Don’t Believe The Truth’.
He said: “If it was up to the band, that (‘Lyla’) wouldn’t be the single. It was the powers that be, whoever they fucking are, that decided the first single.
“It’s a fucking scandal that as the leader of this group I don’t get to pick what our fans hear first.”<br> Really Noel our advice would have been to bin the track.www.gigwise.com/news.asp?contentid=5371Whaaaa...?! Wasn't Noel just saying he purposely resurrected Lyla b/c the album lacked an obvious single? Or was he just playing good soldier like he often does? You know the pattern - Noel praises something in advance but then slags it once it's released?

Binning the track seems a bit harsh

kinda harsh to bin the track. its a good catchy song, but if the album has no obvious single thats fine too. look at sgt peppers, it had no single. not sayin dbtt will be sgt peppers but just an example

lol what the hell are htey saying 'bin the track'
its getting great reviews all over the place, and if it wasn't the one noel wanted to release thats even better!!!
if its not even a strong tune on the album, and its getting this positive of a reaction... isn't this some indication of how the albums gonna be?
either way its alright... woulda been better if Noel got to pick the song to release though...

But I also remember Noel saying not too long ago in a few interviews that there was a good song that they wanted to put out as the first single, but he was singing on it, and Liam thought he should be singing on the first single. Maybe the record company agreed with that, so Noel dug up Lyla and fixed it up.

Yeah but then there would be no point in being mad about it... plus Noel said that they pushed the album title too "Don' Believe The Truth", but in another recent interview Noel explained that it was about all the bullshit that the media report and stuff... but if he didn't came up with it, why would he ever bother to explain it??

Maybe Noel is lying? Maybe he wants to make the album look even better, he has been doing that. Or, he wants to make SONY look bad since this is basically their last album with them. I am sure Noel can do whatever he wants, and could have picked the first single, he made OASIS!!!

I think someone didn't like Lyla and made up a little story.

the news is true.... it's on nme.com too. in all honesty i think Noel has said that cover the lads own back's incase the single doesn't do as well as they hope or first originally thought and then Noel can say..."well....never wanted it released anyway, knew there were better songs to have had as 1st singles" it all seems a little suspicious what Noel has said.

dotmusic.com seem to be the first to provide a source for Noel's comments. They claim it's from an interview for Time Out.

It was on MTV News at MTV Netherlands as well. But also, Lyla is this weeks "must see"! But about Noel: Can't this man go to a marketing workshop or something? Never slag off your own product! And he should stop this bloody insecurity! I can't stand this defensive behaviour "in case the single doesn't do so well". Come on...

I can't stand this defensive behaviour "in case the single doesn't do so well". Come on... exactly! bah. at least with BHN it was later on. which is idiotic cos its a good album (altho all the songs could have been cut by at least 2 mins -.-) which he is only further pushing it into a hole that critics dug for it. and its not like everyone hates lyla! so what on earth was the point of those comments!!!!
