No wonder Liam wants to reform Oasis in 2015, reality check for BDI. Noel can do an arena tour but BDI can only do small time gigs in small clubs and academies... I like BDI and all but I have a feeling their market for album no 2 could be a very small niche market , aka hardcore Oasis fans only, anyway FairPlay to Noely G great to have the epic arena gigs back! Gives us all a chance to see him live rather than most of us missing out to bloody journalists and corporates like this time around.

This sort of softens the blow of not being able to land Roses tickets yesterday.

Noel's music is far more mainstream than Beady Eye's though and Noel has the advantage of playing Oasis classics. If he wasn't playing them I doubt he would be playing the 02.

I don't like that he's advertising his gigs with Oasis tunes. I guess it's good for us fans that we can hear them again, but Noel's new music will never get the chance to become classics as the hights of every gig will be the Oasis tunes anyways..

I think personally this is a bit of a risk playing these big arenas plus I don't want more oasis songs added to his set list! I have huge respect for Beady eye not playing a single oasis song ontour.

They'd play them if they could get away with it, but they'd be slammed as an Oasis tribute band faster than Gem can strum an E minor with a capo on second fret.

People need to stop moaning that these gigs are "too big" or whatever, this is great news, he is doing the smaller intimate gigs which many of you are going to see anyway, and he is doing the big gigs because his album has really taken off.
And in february = one of the most depressing months of the year, gives us something to look forward to.
People on here genuinely try to see the negatives in everything, the glass is half full people, the glass is half full.
Oh and his new tunes WILL become classics ala songbirdsallly.

So why is it ok for Noel to sing oasis songs he's written but not Beady Eye? He may well sell out the 02 but a massive part of that will be because he's singing oasis songs, not because he's so much better than beady eye.

Personally I think the vibe of nghfb will probably work better in smaller venues Agree with this. Don't really see TDOYAM, for example, working as well in an arena? Maybe we'll have the first single from the AA album by March? Feasible for a May/June album release? I think for this UK arena tour Noel will breakout the choir, strings and brass sections to add more depth and create a richer sound to the masses.

I'd rather have people just there for Wonderwall those people spoil the gigs though.. If I'm honest it never bothered me at any Oasis gig. Found that people generally enjoyed themselves even if they didn't know the songs.

1st off I wish that Noel hadn't played Oasis songs. But it won't hurt him long term it would hurt the BDI project.
I think it's all a matter of how they are trying to be seen. BDI are trying to be seen as a totally different band (which is difficult as it's 4/5ths the same line-up with the same lead singer). Them doing Oasis songs, even the ones they wrote, would work against them. Particularly since their Oasis tunes are hardly the ones that are going to send 10's of thousands of people running to ticketmaster because they just HAVE to see Songbird or A Bell Will Ring sung live again.
Noel on the other hand IS marketing himself as "that genius songwriter formerly of Oasis." There is no harm from his perspective to playing his own tunes.
And I think that you are being a bit dismissive of Noel's success so far as well.
Him selling out the O2 might also have something to do with the fact that his album is doing substantially better than BDI's did. 1st week sales almost doubled BDI's and he, after 1 week, is less than 30K shy of beating their year to date sales (From what I understand was 150K). Also that his singles have both done pretty well both of them peaking at least 10 points higher than BDI's best charting single. And that Noel's current single is A-listed on half a dozen radio stations in the UK certainly doesn't hurt...I'm not positive that BDI got A-listed anywhere although I know they made it on to a couple B-lists with The Roller.
The fact is that Noel is still legitimately quite a successful act. His first week sales were over 20K higher than Kasabians 1st week. I seems that, in the market that he is planning those arena gigs, he actually is doing substantially better than BDI.
He is an artist with a #1 album and 2 top 20 singles. BDI had a #3 album with 1 top 40 single.
