I think a lot of the appeal before was the way it was documenting the end of Oasis. The current stuff is fine too but it's not immensely interesting.

They are still fun. Nice to have.
The Gallagher's, but especially Noel, have never been particularly focussed on connecting with the fanbase in a personal way. It's nice that he's made an effort the last couple tours. Even if it's just a running monologue.
How cool is it when he mentions your town or a gig that you went to? And frankly just his musings are amusing.
It's an artist communicating directly with his fanbase which is never a bad thing.
I also thought it was really great when Liam used twitter to thank the fans after gigs and stuff. Too bad he didn't keep that up.

Comrades.
So… Brussels? Nothing to report, really. Gig was a bit livelier than usual. It rained. I had a great nights sleep… and that's about it.
I'm in Copenhagen. It's raining. And I've just had a great nights sleep.
Who said rock'n'roll was dead? The guy what just delivered my breakfast!! (He didn't really.)
In a bit.

I'm pleased to report that there's at least SOMETHING to report from our stop over in Copenhagen.
A lovely place. Wonderful people, so here goes.....
The day started with a trip to national Nordic television. They (whoever "they" are) had me on some breakfast TV show called "Weekend Weekend". So good they named it twice!!!! As you can imagine the show itself was a bit odd. It consisted of a few TV presenter types stood round an elbow high table talking about… well, I'm not quite sure what they was on about as my Danish is a bit rusty these days. It was a bit like that thing that Tim Lovejoy does back in England on a Sunday.
So there's me, some Danish singer-songwriter, a guy who is - and I quote - "Denmark's foremost authority on that holy instrument the Mellotron" (I made the holy bit up), and somewhat predictably...... a celebrity chef, who was gonna cook me an English breakfast.
Now… why is it called an "English" breakfast? Does anyone know?
One of the presenters did refer to the chef as a Michelin star cock at one point!!!! (She meant cook, one would have thought?)
So anyway, after the usual exchanges… you know the ones? They had me and the Mellotron expert stood round a Mellotron and discuss the virtues - of which there are many - of that wonderful piece of machinery. We discussed great Mellotron moments in rock ie. Nights In White Satin, Strawberry Fields, etc…
Now why any of this would be interesting to your average Nordic breakfast telly punter is beyond me but, y'know… whatever. The show was rounded off with a Beatles quiz!!
The gig was in some concert hall. Incredible place. It was like playing inside a hexagonal wooden box. Beautiful.
We played in the round and I must say, it was mega. Being totally surrounded by a load of Nordic beauties is good gear, let me tell you.
At one point a little lad ambled onstage!! He was only 5 years old!! Just think of how many t-shirts he could potentially buy in his lifetime!!! I think his dad sensed a photo opp' in between songs and shoved him up there. Charlie, his name was (I think). He was from Manchester, I believe!!
A top, top night. My favourite gig of the entire tour so far. Well done.
You find me back in Germany. Cologne, to be exact.
Looking forward to getting hold of the Sunday papers. City bagged another 5 goals yesterday. We are struttin' at the minute. None more so than Super Mario, who scored the goal of the season so far. Check it out, it's hilarious. That kid kills me.
In a bit.
GD.
Ps: I lost the fuckin' quiz on a tie break!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So… Cologne? Yes, it was good. Cold, wet and windy, as usual. Mega news came through during the soundcheck. City and United have been drawn together in the FA cup!!! And more importantly I think I'm gonna be around!!! Bring it the fuck on. The gig was a big 'un, relatively speaking. 4000 people. Great vibe… (man). Only spoiled by a few drunken English vaginas asserting their Englishness down the front. Why do English people insist on doing that?? It's embarrassing… No wonder everyone hates them. Top night all the same. Arrived in Paris yesterday morning at about 7am!! It was still dark getting off the bus. Grim as fuck… and I'm staying in the same hotel as I was the last time I was here for a gig. (Y'know… when the "incident" occurred?) It brought back some heavy memories (man). The day off was good though. Had a bit of a wander round. Not heading anywhere in particular. Got lost. I liked it. Gotta go… I'm running out of change. In a bit. GD.

Cheers. Noel seems to have had a run of really good gigs in Europe. 4000 in Cologne is pretty impressive... Filled houses, rowdy crowds (except Amsterdam, which was supposed to be a bit staid).

Why do English people insist on doing that?? It's embarrassing… No wonder everyone hates them. Noel Gallagher 1988-1998. Ha, I was thinking the same thing on Sunday when Noel started arguing with them. That when you asked the average German on the streets what Oasis and their fans are about they'd describe people pretty much exactly like those guys. We were standing on the left and they were more on the right so I didn't really see any of them but there was a lot of drunken shouting/singing and V signs flicked around. ;D But 1) they didn't spoil anyone's night and 2) until Noel pointed out that 'you can't take them anywhere with you' they sounded like typical wasted Germans to me so they can't have caused the British reputation abroad too much harm. But Noel's reaction to them was more funny than any real point for criticism imo. I think no one would dispute that Noel has changed quite a bit since the 90s whereas Liam for example changed surprisingly little. Which is also the reason why Liam always gets all the credit from old fans for keeping it real and being the heart of Oasis while Noel can sometimes get accused by the same people of lying or faking it or doing it for the money. The flipside of this are people who thought the Gallaghers sometimes behaved a bit like twats back in the day who now see Noel as the witty/talented one and believe Liam is still a knob, or worse, a caricature of what he was in the 90s. For me it's pretty normal that Noel has different values in his 40s than when he was in his 20s. Plus even in the 90s he was more ambivalent about these things than Liam (the old question of whether Oasis is all about the music or generally causing as much chaos and destruction as possible ) And it's kind of ridiculous when people make it sound as if Noel is somehow a traitor to his own roots now. People who think that are also the one's who believe that Tony McCarrolls book is nothing but the truth. I think it's really cool how Liam stayed pretty much the same no matter what happened in his life but it's simply a fact that most people change a bit through age or life circumstances. Maybe Noel wants to move on a bit from his old image and personally I'm glad because while the atmosphere was great the shoving in front of the stage was bearable this time and there was not much beer flying around either which meant I could stick around at the front for one whole brilliant gig. As for the English guys I think they had a great night out as well. They had a couple of chats with Noel, got a song personally NOT dedicated to them and now they are even mentioned in his blog That's more than can be said about us apparently better behaved German lot.
