A little slow to update. Well, very slow. From 23/8/2012
Rest in pieces my friend
Yes comrades.
Where we up to? Fuck knows, let me check . . . .
So, it would seem the last time we spoke I was getting ready for a festival in Vienna? It was good as I remember. Hadn't played for a while so I wasn't expecting much but it was pretty fucking good. Spoiled only by the death of one of my guitars. Well, it might not be actually dead but it was seriously maimed. A sad day. Rest in pieces my friend, I loved you very much.
After that we flew to Chelmsford for the 1st night of that V festival. Weather was great. Hot, hot, hot! That festival though (the Chelmsford end of it anyway) has become swamped with young boys in vests and silly hats. Big, big crowd though. Smashed it I think. Legged it pretty much straight off stage up to Manchester. 4 hours in the back of a car. It’s as grim as it get's let me tell you.
I was up in Manchester for no other reason than to see the new, and still defending, champions of England kick off the new season. Thank fuck it's back. Life is well shit without football. We won. Unconvincingly, if you ask me. Great game though. After that there was a mad dash to the northern end of V in Stafford. What a great gig!! Up there with Benni'. I'm sure it was the same crowd!! Big up if you was there!!!
So after that we flew to Belfast. A little festival. Good though. Rowdy as fuck. United lost!! We did laugh. Drove to Dublin straight after. Had 2 days off. Drank more than enough Guiness. Lovely.
Getting ready for a co-headline thing tonight in Marley Park with my old mates Kasabian. Haven't seen them for a while so I'm well looking forward to it. I lost the toss so I'm being put into bat first . . . so to speak. Got a day off tomorrow so it's bound to get messy.
Oh dear.
ONWARDS.

I LOVE THE DENTIST!!!!!!!!!
Comrades . . . had a week off so you'z were the last thing on my mind (no offence!).
Now . . . the gig in Dublin was OK in the end. There was a couple of false starts. Power went down like at that gig I did recently in France with Franz Ferdinand, (for the last time . . . YES THEY ARE STILL GOING!!!!!!). At least it didn't rain which is always a bonus in Ireland. I was drunk for at least 3 days in a row. Not good . . . but great (if you know what I mean?).
After that we flew to Paris. A festival. It was good . . . well better than the last time I was there but we won't go into that eh?? After that I had a week off. Didn't do much. Went to the dentist if you must know . . . I LOVE THE DENTIST!!!!!!!!!
You currently find me in an old people's home in the Channel Islands. You might have heard of it? It's called "JERSEY". It smells of dead fish.

Now then comrades. Been a while I know. Been busy though innit? So . . . let's go back . . . way back . . . .
I think the last time we spoke I was in the biggest retirement home in the world, that being the isle of Jersey. The gig was great as I recall. I was playing with my old comrades Primal Scream. They were mega. They played some of their new album. Sounded great. As always.
You might be aware of a story about a deadly spider or summat? A load of fabricated nonsense. Great night all the same though.
The next gig was in that other retirement home Bournemouth. Strange gig. Lots of punch-ups!! What the fuck?? It's an odd little place. It does have palm trees though . . . which is nice.
Next up was my spiritual home of Liverpool. Great show. Magnificent crowd. They never let you down them scousers. While I'm at it let me say I'm writing this on the day that THE TRUTH has finally been exposed about the Hillsborough disaster. Respect to the family's of the 96 for exposing the lies of Thatcher's government. With my hand on my heart I salute you. xxxxxx
Now . . . after that came a magical Friday night in London. Not sure where it came from but the magic happened. Monumental show. Incredible crowd. Unbelievable. One of the best. Nice one.
After that was Cardiff. Pretty fucking good. No fighting . . . which is quite rare in Wales. They were in fine voice though. I'm losing track now . . . might have been Nottingham next? It was! Nothing sticks in my mind about the gig apart from having some fun with a lad in the crowd about a hat or summat? Not sure. I'm sure it was fun though.
So to last night at the Roundhouse in London. Part of the iTunes Festival. Easy. Loved it. It’s more like a TV show than a gig though. Not much in the way of atmosphere but pretty fucking good all the same. I now have 5 days off . . . which is good!
ONWARDS.

Not the most pleasant night out I've ever had
Yes comrades. How's it going? All is well I trust?
So, I'm out in South East Asia. Bangkok . . . well, I'm actually in transit to Singapore to be exact.
Played a show in Bangkok last night. Pretty fuckin' good. Odd place Bangkok. Not quite sure what to make of it. It’s hot . . . very hot . . . pissing down constantly . . . like a monsoon!! Very, very busy gaff. Lot's of western people . . . sex tourists, hippies, travellers, Man United fans . . . you know the type. I do like the food though. Who doesn't?
Went out the other night to watch Real Madrid-Man City. Might have had the weirdest footballing experience I've ever had. Watched it in some shady bar on a big screen with hi-energy versions of that album by that Adele being played at excruciating volume. Not the most pleasant night out I've ever had. The fact that we blew it in injury time made it all the more . . . shit (for want of a better word).
What else . . . . . . . ? Seen that film Prometheus on the flight on the way over. What a load of shit. Laughable rubbish. Have you seen it? Well don't . . . it's dog-shit.
I think that's all I've got for you . . . ?
Yep . . . that's it.
ONWARDS.

What is the obsession with fancy watches anyway?
Yes comrades.
So, Singapore then? It was great. I do like that gaff. Very exotic. It pretty much amounts to a gigantic shopping mall. Nice place. Nice people. Very hot. Very wet.
The Grand Prix was in town. Seems like a right laugh. Absolutely mobbed with your Top Gear mob. Not Clarkson etc . . . but your motor enthusiast. Squares, golfers, United fans . . . you know the type? Gig's were great. Bit mad but very enjoyable all the same.
Had a very bumpy flight to Hong Kong or as your Aussie calls it "Honkers".
Massive electrical storm hit about 10 minutes after we landed which was a stroke of luck . . . it was spectacular!! Have you been here? Crazy place. Dripping with money. I've never seen so many billboards advertising watches. Literally ten's of them. What is the obsession with fancy watches anyway? What's the obsession with snide fancy watches? They're a pain in the fucking arse. Once they put a clock in your phone . . . that's it innit? Sorted.
Gig was ok. Wasn't really in the mood. Not been feeling well of late. Doesn't help when people keep saying "You ok? You don't look well".
I think time might be just catching up with me.
Off to Taiwan in the morning. Where all the shit gear in the world used to be made until the Chinese said, "Hang on . . . shit gear? We can do that better and cheaper than any fucker!"
In other - more important – news, I have learnt to play "Let's Dance" by that David Bowie fella on my guitar!!!! It might be up there with my greatest musical achievements of which there are literally a few . . . anyway gotta go. I'm not feeling well.
ONWARDS.

Left town the next afternoon, just before a typhoon arrived.
Yes comrades . . . we cool?
Now, the last time we spoke I was getting ready for a show in Taipei, (that's in Taiwan). It was grey, wet and miserable. Not the gig . . . that was great. Very enthusiastic crowd spoiled only by the obligatory fat English idiot relentlessly shouting out random song titles. I'm not really sure what the point of all that would be. I'm not likely to suddenly come to the conclusion that actually all these songs I'm playing and have been playing for . . . hmm . . . I dunno . . . A FUCKING YEAR might actually not be very good and . . . oh yeah . . . I totally forgot about that song "I Will Believe” . . . shall we do it now . . . RIGHT NOW!!?!?!?!!?!?! Great night all the same.
Left town the next afternoon, just before a typhoon arrived. There'd been a warning the day before. It was a bit touch and go whether the plane was gonna be able to take off. I'm not sure what's worse in those situations . . . spending another night in a hotel or trying to fly home through the front end of a typhoon? The locals didn't seem to be too bothered, so off we went. It was a fairly bumpy ride I have to say, but we arrived home safe and sound. Which is more than could be said for our bags what didn't arrive home until 2 days later. Barely had time to unpack before we had to leave again for Germany which is where you find me now. In Dusseldorf..or "doozle-dorf" as your local would say. You ever heard of that band "Dusseldorf"? Kind like that other band "Neu"? If kraut rock is your thing check 'em out.
Anyway I'm bored of this now.
IN A BIT.

Comrades.
The gig in Doozle-dorf was not the best. Not for me anyway. I must tell you I've got glandular fever and have been suffering with it for nearly a month now. Been feeling my age recently.
Good job I've only got 5 weeks left and not 5 months eh? Did not feel up for it that night in Doodle-dorf anyway. My old voice is a little shot and if I'm being honest it is well past this tour’s bedtime (so to speak). Still, we soldier on and like I say only 5 long weeks left.
SAYING THAT . . . a couple of gigs in my spiritual home of Italy is enough to perk anybody up and true to form the gigs in Florence and Bologna had enough healing properties to raise the dead, let alone give a tired man a lift!! They were unbelievable nights. 2 of the very best.
What is it with you Italians? Why do you seem to "get it" more than anyone else? It's a constant source of fascination for me. On the other hand it also means one spends most of the time trapped in hotels as you can't leave for fear of being kidnapped or trampled to death or kissed to within an inch of your life (these are not complaints . . . just observations!). These people sing their own versions of songs in between the songs they've paid to see you sing!! They sang for Mancini! They sang for Balotelli! They sang very nearly every Oasis song imaginable! The girls flashed there upper regions! They laughed and then they cried and then they surrounded the hotel thus ensuring that there could be no conceivable way to enter it without all the aforementioned things taking place again!
ITALY? WHY ALWAYS YOU??
ONWARDS.

PS: I'm back in Germany again (who's routing this fucking tour)!

I love the latest entry. Winnipeg is my hometown and the thought of Noel (once again) playing there definitely activates the pleasure centers of the brain.
Winnipeg: Colder than Margaret Thatcher's Blood. I love it! Proud day to be a Winnipegger and Oasis.

that's that then.
Yes comrades. How is everyone? OK? OK . . . I do tend to say this quite often I know but . . . it's been a long time since we last spoke. I don't really remember when it was to be honest. 3 weeks ago?
Fuck knows! Anyway . . . that American tour was alright. Nothing more nothing less. We came, we played, we moved on to the next one. A more uneventful tour you'd be hard pushed to find. A few things do stick out though. Gigs in Nashville and Kentucky (for some reason!). All the shows in Texas were great for me, (I do love Texas. Nice weather. Nice people). I did get mauled by some bastard mosquitoes though. I had 8 bites at one point! On my hands. Agony.
So that was that. Like I say it was "alright".
That gig at the Shepards Bush Empire was - if I'm being honest - a bit of an anti-climax. Can't really put my finger on why. It just kind of passed me by a little. Maybe I'd built it up too much in my head? Maybe everyone in the crowd had seen the show one too many times already? Dunno . . . I didn't really enjoy it. Jet lag maybe? Who knows? Not me!! We did party hard after though. It’s taken me a good 72 hours to straighten myself out again.
I would like to say a heart felt thank you to everyone who either bought the record or came to the shows and if you did both then you are a righteous person and I thank you twice as much.
I'd like to thank all my crew. I'd like to thank my band (I actually don't think - when I was choosing a line-up-to tour this record - I could've found a group of lads more readily available . . . I'm only joking!! BUT SERIOUSLY THOUGH).
So . . . that's that then. I shall, for the for seeable future, be indulging my beautiful wife and wonderful kids AND that crazy football club of mine.
There now follows a massive break in transmission.
Go safe.
IN A BIG BIT.
