I can't help but think that 'Let The Lord Shine A Light On Me' was a wasted opportunity to be something really special. As a B-side, the version we have is good, but do any of you guys think that if there was a little bit more effort put into this tune it would've been an even better song? I mean, I know we could say that about any song, but this song in particular strikes a different nerve...

I agree with you.
The song itself is amazing, the melody, vocals, the lyrics and the production is quite dreamy and reminds me a bit of 'Cast No Shadow' the UNKLE version. But I think he tried too hard to stray away from Oasis with this, the female vocals go a little over the top. Imagine an epic guitar solo in place of it. Noel forgets he can create some great guitar solo's. I can't think of one on an Oasis tune that I don't like.
So yeah, you're right. More effort and it would've been on the album and one of the stand out tracks aswell.

Agreed mate..could do with another verse in particular, but that's partly the attraction of it, I guess in that leaves you wanting more once it finishes playing

I'm glad Noel is back at making quality b-sides again.
the way Noel sings this song and the production on his voice is how Everybody's On The Run should've been recorded.

One of my top 3 from NGHFB, but I like it just the way it is. To me the only way it was wasted is in the fact it was a b-side, so not that many people will hear it. But as Noel has said, discovering great B-Sides is part of what made Oasis special, and it is nice to see both brothers continuing that tradition with their new projects.

This or A simple game of genius should have been on the album for me.

Has the potential to be a great tune but yes, lacking a bit of effort and the female vocals are a bit over the top.

I like the females vocals in there. Think it adds to it.

the female vocals make this song, plus its almost gospel sounding so it fits the title

Should have had a really different sound to be gospel. Tender by blur is gospel, it's close to perfection. This song is okay, good as a bside but as said before the female vocals are bit over the top. Sounds like a good james bond tune from the 80s and i tend to think it's like Noel recorded that to attract attention from the Bond producers I enjoy listening to it, but it would be out of place on the record.

I agree that this would be great AA material. I don't see the whole fascination with guitar solos personally, even though I'm blown away by the melody of a lot of them from Oasis, but it's not something that I see as essential for a great tune.
The female vocals for me really add something different to it. Totally unexpected and it is a great contrast with Noel's more tender and sincere vocals. A brilliant addition to a brilliant tune.
Not sure where it would go on the record, but I like it a lot more than Simple Game Of Genius. Not quite matching Alone On The Rope, which if I want to be picky about a great album, ideally would of been the penultimate track on the album.

I do like this tune a lot.
Could have made the album (IMO)
