didn't beady eye go to number 1 in japan? No. DGSS was #5 in Japan. Beady's highest chart position was #3 in UK & Ireland. Didn't reach one anywhere.

I thought it made no.1 in Japan and I'm sure I saw it in a chart at the time.

Never reached number 1 in Japan on the overall chart. It only reached 5.
Artists have always thrown the #1 label around very loosely when promoting an album. If the song/album reaches number one on some niche or specialty chart (or even if it doesn't sometimes) the promotion materials call it a "#1 hit".

I'm pretty sure it was #1 in Japanese charts for foreign artists

ok cool that explains it then thank you.. (very poor sales figures for both i thought gallagher's were very popular in japan)
Out of interest the reason why japan gets all the bonus tracks is too encourage them to buy it domestically.
Is there an import charts in japan, if buying from out side of japan is so common?

I also thought it went n°1 in Japan, can remember the threads on here mentionning it. Anyways, it is indeed quite surprising! I guess the Japanese are more into rock 'n' roll Also, Liam has always connected very good with the Japanese. And him doing the benefit gig and all other stuff for Japan this year might have had a positive effect on the sales too!

To be fair the Japan benefit gig was way after the album release... We're talking about first week sales here right?

The music industry in Japan is more fucked than the UK. AKB48 are like the spice girls, but with 48 members. You can't fight that shit

Is there an import charts in japan, if buying from out side of japan is so common? Cheers for that. Was wondering why they always get the extra songs which means we always end up spending more ! Out of Interest has anyone bought the Japan album with the bonus tracks. I was wondering if the bonus songs where included in the track listing or if they where hidden bonus tracks ? Was wondering if its the same hardback book type cover as well

^^ Interesting. So Noel could end up selling more in the long run despite Beady Eye having the bigger opening week.
