is it true Mylo Xloto has sold 14,000 this week so far? ~24,000. Should end up around 80kish at the end of the week. That sounds more realistic, thought 14k sounded too low

Wow, Coldplay are tanking. They've gone number one in seven countries thus far and are set to debut at #1 in the US with over 400,000 copies sold. Hardly the definition of tanking... In absolute terms is a big result, but if it's dropping fast is failing for their role in the music scenario nowadays. Also U2's POP (one of my favourite albums) debuted at n.1 in 35 countries, but it's hardly considered a success for that band.

So did Noel sell more in his first week?

So did Noel sell more in his first week? Than Coldplay? No. About 90K less. But Coldplays 2nd week drop off looks like it'll be significantly more than Noels. Noel went from sales of 120K to 70K. And I've heard projection of around 50K for this week. (Can't remember where I read that though) Coldplay look like they are going to be dropping from 210K to 80K this week. First week sales are an indication of hype but a quick drop off isn't a good indication. I'm not surprised as none of the tunes that I have heard I could imagine the casual music fans hearing and thinking they have to get the album that tune is on. At least the last album had VLV. Plus I have always believed that those first week sales of established artists are largely an indication of the overall reception of the last album. If the last album was any good people will buy on speculation without neccessarily listening to it or waiting on a recommendation. But if the album isn't that good the drop off will be dramatic. VLV was really well received so I think that worked in Coldplays favour

170 this week + 22 last week = 192k in 2 weeks DGSS: 29k +114k = 143k in 2 weeks So shockingly enough, outside the UK Beady Eye are doing better than Noel. In Spain, Noel entered at 15, Bidi Ah at 13. In this case, i think it´s a matter of musical culture: in the UK everybody knows them, everybody knows who was the big songwriter. Outside, people is buying more Beady Eye cos Liam was Oasis´face. Anyway, i think Noel will sell more than Bidi Ah in the USA too. About Spain, keep in mind that Noel's album was out on Tuesday here, while Beady Eye was out on a monday (I bought both on their release date). Therefore, BDI had one more day of sales accounted.

Interesting point, didn´t remember that. Plus, i bought Beady Eye´s album in my local store and Noel´s one in his web, and maybe some other diehards did the same as me (pure speculation tough)

Still #4 on the Wednesday chart update. Albums holding up really well. good news. even if its too early to say, if the promo of the next UK single (the massive IIHAG) is good enough and with little luck in the week of its release, then Noel could stay in the charts for a long long time.At least i hope so.
