Never understood why people love to shit on this song. Sure, Noel definitely overhyped it, but then again, he also overhyped Chasing Yesterday by saying that it was a bold move into something completely different (which was true...sorta). I guess I'm just one of those lucky few who wasn't an Oasis fan back then and heard the song for the first time without any Noel exaggerations racing through my brain while listening to it! P.S. the guitar solo is way too fucking soft. Wtf Sardy??? Did Noel say Chasing Yesterday was a bold move for him? I remember him saying that about the AA project but not for Chasing Yesterday. He's sorta said that about the current LP he's recording. Now that I think about it, it probably wasn't Noel who said that. I vaguely remember that a few people who'd heard CY before its release said that it was quite different from his previous releases. Which is true, I guess.

Maybe not Coyley, I think it was a user on here who said that. @tjalke Mark Coyle did hype it up to the NME in 2014- NME 2014 Have a read of his quotes on that link, it's hyperbole worthy of Alan McGee (or even Beady’s Here Now and Flatulence Panic )

But we were looking to see if anyone had said that CY was a bold venture into new territory.

Thanks for the link! But we were looking to see if anyone had said that CY was a bold venture into new territory. Ah missed that- The closest I can find in that case is Music Reviews Scotland Not a "Bold venture into new territory" for the album as a whole, but in fairness I think Mark Coyle made up for any missing hyperbole!

"the last 3 tracks that close the album out are atypical...TO SAY THE LEAST. They have a jazzy almost dance type feel." Not reeeeeaaally.. But maybe the tracklist wasn't the way it ended up yet.

Thanks for the link! But we were looking to see if anyone had said that CY was a beige venture into new territory. Corrected. Don't get me wrong CY is great but no one is ever going to say Noel created an avant garde record, c'mon. Noel is too scared for that. Too scared someone will point and laugh. I loved CY the first time I heard it... with each subsequent listen I think Liam is correct... it's a bit... beige. It doesn't help here in the UK just about every song from it has been played on Radio X continually since it's release....!

Chasing Yesterday is a good record but it not an amazing record let's be honest. It has more ups and downs than most of his past efforts.
Still, it's great that after 20 years of being almost the sole songwriter of his band, Noel is able to come up with records like that. Few artists have managed to do that.
As for Record Machine, the song had potential and the leaked version from DBTT session is far, far better than the re-recorded NGHFB version.

I was EUPHORIC when the demo leaked in 2008.
I remember that night vividly. It leaked in May 2008 (along with AGN and STC) around 2am or 3am Eastern US Time, and this forum went mental. I couldn't stop playing Record Machine (demo) for the next several weeks.
Absolutely euphoric about this tune. That middle 8 and guitar solo!
And now I want the 8 minute guitar laden Liam sung epic version that Noel says exists. God damn it! What a missed opportunity!

The demo version is my favourite, but I think Noel could play this song live again in solo gigs.

Loved the Oasis demo & I find the hfb album version watered down but it sounds pretty epic when he played it live.

So, I listen to this song right, and every single time this is what goes through my head: Aww, cute little kids. Hey, shut up, the songs starting! Little familiar. Nice little intro Noel, does the owner know you took it? Ah well, it sounds better here, it's what you do isn't it. Hm, not really doing much. Hehe, this is where they would start sin - shit. The exact words? Noel you fucktard, you steal either the music, or the words, but not bo OhMyGod how did you make a caree Wait shit Gotit. Heh. Good Song. I like it. 6.5 years later, this post still has me laughing my tits off.
