Sure seems like it. Lots of 2 star reviews that sound much worse when you actually read then. And even the 3 star reviews are almost all negative. Hell, some of the 4 star reviews are mostly negative.
The album is not getting a good critical reception at all.

Are you living on a different planet? It has way more positive reviews. Hell Mojo, Q, Digital Spy, The Sun all gave it 4/5 (or 8/10 for NME) and that's just a few.

Not at all. I think Liam has been completely useless since Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants. He used to be the coolest fucker on the planet. Now he's ugly and old. Has a stupid haircut all the time now too.

Has a stupid haircut all the time now too. I was taking the piss out of the Liam fanboys who give out about Noel fanboys. The reaction to this album has been polar opposites. There's been a few 2/5s but a huge number of 4/5.

Has there been more 2 than that single Uncut review? I think te Daily Mirror gave it 2 out of 5 and so did the Day and Night supplement of the Irish Independent.

To be quite fair, I noticed the amount of 2/5-reviews as well and it is definitely bigger than the amount of negative reviews for DGSS. It's just that most of them are from newspapers or websites that didn't even review DGSS, or that aren't very popular (like the Financial Times review that gave HFB 2/5). Most "big" reviews for HFB were 7-9/10-ish.

i remember reading early reviews of MG which weren't that good and kind of dissappointed by the album. that certainly changed over the years. so reviews aren't that important to me

I do agree that Noel's reviews when written sound more negative. But they were always gonna. For BDI expectations were low so there was a lot of "damned by faint praise going on"
Way I've been seeing it. BDI=it's surprisingly better than you would expect! 3/5!
Noel=pretty much what you'd expect. 3/5.
Remember the BDI reviews? Pretty common to have loads of positive statements and then a 3/5 rating. Noel on the other hand seems to have a lot of reviews that are written very critically but end up 4/5. If BDI got a 4/5 the review was glowing. There reviews were more positive...but I think that in general Noel is getting a half a point or a point higher in general.
Also...Noel has gotten a couple of 5/5's from some pretty reputable sources. The 2/5's are from a gossip mag and a source that from what I understand didn't like Oasis to begin with and a financial mag?

Spot on gdforever. Beady Eye surprised people by putting out a good album, Noel merely came up to the reviewers' expectations of delivering a great album.

I find most reviewers just don't get Oasis/Noel/Liam. This coming from a guy who spent a few years writing movie/music reviews.
The easiest thing to do when you're planning on writing a bad review is pulling out a couple of random lyrics and say "boy are these banal! Look how shitty the lyrics are." One could do that with ANY album, even Bob Dylan at his peak and make the artist sound stupid. Most lyrics written by pop stars are doggerel when viewed on the page alone, and that is fine as they're there to fit the shape of the music, not serve as spoken word poetry. Reviewers tend to forget that.
Reviewers have whiffed on a TON of great albums. Led Zeppelin II and IV, Paul McCartney's Ram, Morning Glory, The Bends (got some shit reviews here in the states) are just a few examples. Fuck I even remember some lukewarm reviews of Nevermind!
The problem is that true fans know the quality of Oasis albums so much better than reviewers ever could, because we know the music-what Noel does well-so much better. Which is why I trust my opinion so much more than some random reviewers. Reviewers just don't fucking know how to review an Oasis album (BHN-awesome reviews, MG-shitty reviews, SOTSOG-awful reviews despite being a very interesting and worthy album, DOYS-even with its terrible second side, got much better reviews than it deserved)

Liam got his fair share of 2s, too.
But, as it's already been pointed out, Noel's gotten a couple 5/5s (Liam didn't get any, I don't think) and many other great reviews, too.
I like BDI, and no matter what you think of them, I think the vast majority know that NGHB is far superior. Like, it's not even close. Noel's song writing is on another planet. But we already knew that prior to any releases, didn't we......

Stupid sad fuck.
You idiots go on about how reviews don't mean anything, then start stupid threads like this. If you've got a brain and ears, then you can form your own opinion.

Decent thread robohump well worth it... Nice Karma by the way!! Well, NGHFB got yet another 2/5 review from The Guardian today. There's a pretty long list of very negative reviews now. And like I said, even the positive reviews read very negative. I honestly don't care anymore (I used to care about reviews and would always hope Oasis would get good ones). I like the album and will be listening to it years down the road.

The Guardian gave it a 3/5, unless their website differs from the actual paper.
