i remember watching a bbc documentary, and it kinda lumped coldplay, steriophonics, embrace, travis etc ...as a kinda poor mans oasis, with their attempts at anthemic generation defining music...."have a nice day" by steriophonics is particulary shite....i can t agree about coldplay...but i think they had a point. noels influence stretched further than a lot of the press like to admit.

I think they are all great bands. Oasis were themselves influenced, as well as these other bands, all by the same music/culture/fashion etc. So I think the influence comes from that more than Oasis themselves, although they probably did have some influence on more recent music as they were easily the biggest band branded "britpop" ever.

Well I can't agree about Stereophonics, I think they are a very good band, underrated I feel. Kelly Jones has one of the best voices I have ever heard. As for Coldplay well there not the poor mans Oasis they are the gay man's Oasis, well in my opinion anyway. I'm sorry I wish I could like Coldplay but I always think of their music as the sort of music you might hear if you went to a social night in an Omish Community, it's just too nice and friendly.

What documentary was this? If you don't listen to this kind of music they probably do all sound the same, but to me they're all completely different

Stereophonics are a great band, as are Coldplay in my opinion. Coldplays first two albums are great.
Embrace are unspeakably shite, Danny Macnamara has an atrocious voice.

Stereophonics could be THE under-the-radar-forever UK band in US history.
99.9998% of the population couldn't name one of their songs, but I think they're a valid act and could even enjoy US success with a modicum of exposure...it's just never happened here.

So true, Maybe tomorrow featured on the soundtrack to Crash a few years ago and all Americans who'd never heard it loved it
