the sister lovers were a band on the same bus up to glasgow for the famous alan mcgee meet for the first time. they were friendly with the sister lovers, and the bloke in charge said to oasis your not playing and they said well we wont then - so he gave in.

I dunno what the song is about but for me that single - Stand By Me - was the one where Noel sorely tested his run of amazing B-sides. (I Got) The Fever and My Sister Lover are pribably the worst B-sides Oasis have ever issued. They are supremely average songs rendered worse by a huge mess of over-production and a swamp of guitar noise.
Thank God that back in those days we were still allowed 4 tracks on singles, otherwise we wouldn't have gotten Going Nowhere and the whole thing would have been a write off!

I'm sorry, (I Got) The Fever was awesome. Killed Going Nowhere. We needed more tracks like that on Heathen Chemistry and Standing On The Shoulder.

You guys are here talking about (I Got) The Fever and Sister Lover and I've never even heard them. Could someone post them, or at least the demos, up for me?

Ok, actually I think the complete opposite! I think Going Nowhere is a terrible song and I always skip it on The Materplan - I find that all of Oasis' downer titles - going nowhere, where did it all go wrong etc are bad and all of their upper titles - live forever, etc are good
as for i got the fever and my sister lover I also think they are very good - oasis' downfall in terms of singles didn't start till HC, those b-sides are hsite for the most part - idler's dream is terrible and the other ones are no better, jmo

idler's dream is terrible and the other ones are no better, jmo Youve gotta be kidding man! Idlers Dream is a class tune. How can you say some of those Be Here Now b-sides are better than that great little tune?

ok fine it's not terrible - but it's at best ok - just b/c it's noel and a piano and it's different doesn't mean it's good - if anyone else had wrtiten this song I would have thought it was utter crap - my bias is preventing me from saying that it's complete crap - it's just my opinion based i dunno - on how we perceive music, obviously you and I perceive music differentlly - it just sounds bad to me, not to you

Aaah see, I think we will have to agree to disgaree my friends. I think Idler's Dream was the best thing Noel did in ages, was a great tune and actaully tied to do something a bit different (quick, name another Oasis tune with no guitars in it). (I Got) The Fever is and will remain rubbish.

Idlers Dream does nothing for me.
I have to say I got the fever is a great b-side.

What do you mean "getting away with", it's perfectly fine if you like that song, I couldn't care less. I don't like it and think it's really really bad. But that's just me. This is not worth discussing if we're both (as we have been) simply going to make assertions.
