I think Noel said Dream On is about nothing because it's actually about:
An important woman in your life that's currently driving you crazy or just home life being exhausting. The opening line is about being exhausted and ganging by a thread, the Na na nas are a sarcastic impression of her. "razor blade in the kitchen"– crazy wife. The music is grim. "bitch keeps bitchin'" etc.
I think it's about being in a busy house with a wife that's driving him crazy and he's venting in the song. ANd obviously he's not gonna say that in an interview. Just my two cents, but it makes the song one of my favorites having listened to it. It's got some meaning to me now cos I feel like I can relate.
I may be crazy but it makes sense to me.

I was thinking it might be something like an attention-deprived woman (the tears you cry are only meant to flatter me) but your theory is much more well-realized.

Yeah the line you mentioned, forgot about that one, but it's one I noticed and forgot about. I think he just wouldn't say that's what it's about it an interview.

All the guy wants is a glass of lemonade and the fuckin' kids drank it all. Being a family man sucks.

It's a day in the life of a family man. That's all.

Like the theory. Might not be true but it's cool nonetheless.

Yep, great shout.
That simply is the meaning of the song to me, it's cool that other people get the same vibe, it sort of confirms it. It has really dark undertones to it which I like.
I like it when NG says "let the listener make their own meanings".
For example:
Morning Glory and Sunday Morning Call are about a fucking dreadful hangover.
Do You Know What I Mean? and Underneath the Sky is someone re-counting a dream.
From someone who's experienced panic attacks myself, Gas Panic does an amazing job of conveying the feeling through music.
That's not me trying to interpret them, that's the vibe I got from them on an initial listen.

Since Noel was talking about the album as if it told a story here's my view, for anyone who cares:
EOTR: Is about a guy who really loves this girl, but for some reason they can't be together. "Broken heart is still beating.." "can't stop the bleeding.." Etc.
Dream On: You find out why; The guy is stuck in a dull marriage to a woman who "keeps bitchin'". He's trapped in a situation that's not at all what he thought it was going to be.
IIHAG: The guy is telling his dream girl that he wants to be with her, and if he could he would burn the city down (where they're both trapped) and stop the world to make her his.
and finally TDOYAM: They run away together, or at least he's fantasising about it, because the next song is Record Machine and that kind of feels like the character is still stuck in his shit life and day dreaming.
So I dunno, that's my take on it. And yeah.

i thought the Razor Blade was in reference to bring fed up and wanting to get on the white stuff again?
