....after doing such a brilliant job of keeping this record in an air-tight container for months, 'they' put it up on a stream, for free mind you, for all to hear days before the release.... curious move? who do you suppose made the decision to do this, was it: 1- noel 2- his management/label, or 3- both? ^i'm in no way complaining, mind you, but i just think the whole thing was kind of odd the way it ultimately went down. EDIT: but then again, some people may call it 'brilliant marketing' ,, what do i know? (and yes, i realise people were gonna d/l it for free off torrents and whatnot after it was released anyway, and i'm sure noel's management knew that as well.)

to me it seems very foolish for them to think no one cud get past region blocks and recording and that - bad move (tho good for us)

It was the management ofcourse. I don't think Noel deals with stuff like that ;D
Don't know if it's good or bad marketing wise. Found it strange too. But afterall, it'll leak in a few days anyway cause the Japanese are getting it before us.

Those streams are more or less the default these days. All the albums I've anticipated most this year have had streaming on various websites 1-2 weeks before the release. Guess it is good marketing then!

They probably expected it to have leaked through a promo copy or some journalist getting round the watermark before this steam went live.

Dont think it was a bad move. Bit bizarre though
But real fans will buy the album when its out, the tight arses wont buy the album if they can get it for free even if the album was 50p.
The album will soar to number 1 instantly and have good sales, dont think what happened yesterday will affect the album much. Just a few tight arses wont buy it but they werent going to buy it anyway

They must have complete confidence in the album. After hearing it, I want to go out and buy it more than ever.

After hearing it, I want to go out and buy it more than ever. ^ see, now that's what i mean about good marketing.... management must have been counting on this type of reaction. also to the person who touched on the fact they were counting on a leak by now, that i think is entirely possible as well.

The fact that the quality is good enough to show people that this one of the albums of the year but not one hundred percent perfect might tempt a few of the doubters into paying the money for the album. And to agree with the post above when the songs are this strong I would back them. People that are not sure or maybe even some that think Oasis died in 1997 should come flooding back for this album.

They still made money off people streaming it. So it wasn't all THAT bad.
