So i've played the new single to a lot of my friends. Some who are Oasis virgins and some who are pretty into em. I think the tune is mega (it took bout 3 listens to fall in love) BUT THEY.... They just sighed... I don't think this is anything that will turn heads. Oasis are the fans' band and this is for them. It's not to pull in new music lovers. It's just not that special of a single. Does anyone else agree? I mean, I'm just gauging from my friends' responses... yeah i agree. ha ha, i also made all my friends listen to it - they are all pretty nuetral about oasis generally, and the same with lyla. it didnt blow them away. it didnt completely blow me away either, but i still really like it!! so yeah...my friends thought it was pretty good cos i made them listen to it - i dunno if it'l catch peoples attention just on the radio or whatever. and its true, its only cos they're already an established name - i doubt a new band with this song would make anyone go WOW like the songs of definitely maybe did. but, im not disappointed. i dont think the new album will be better than morning glory or anything, despite what noel says, but i do think it'll be a good solid album with really good songs on it. like heathen chemistry. just not a classic. and i dont think there is anything wrong with that at all. they gave us 2 fuckin timeless rock n roll records - definitely maybe and morning glory!! those were inspired works of genius! i think we take it for granted. but i cant say that i'm over the awe of those 2. mayeb its cos im a relatively new oasis fan for only like 3 years - but really they are GREAT albums. i know you all know that - but the point is, its hardly considered a disappointemnt if DBTT isnt a work of genius. seriously. MG adn DM - we're tlakign about albums that blow people away. leave them stunned. albums that arent only relevant to the people then - but for generations to come. only an elite handful of bands can even deliver one. the fuckin sex pistols only gave us 1. i think its crazy to expect that again. i dont think its cos their music has gone downhill but its just evolved which is inevitable, and the fact that its a different context now with a different audience. popular culture has moved on and you cant expect any album of theirs to come can possibly have the same effect as it used to. but of course. a part of me cant help hope that DBTT really is the best album since definitely maybe and that its gonna blow the whole fuckin world away i think i kinda went off topic but oh well!!
