Gallagher told the magazine: "I know that this is the most concise, literal and lyrical album I've written for a long time, and that says more about me as a songwriter because it's all me, apart from the drums and some of the keyboards." Bullshit, who played the fuckin violin concerto in that 100 piece orchestra then, love? Fitting that the only thing Noel didn't play on was the drums, because they sound shit. He really should fire whoever played on it... the drumming style for a lot of songs just doesn't work at all.

That's what happens when you hire a bunch of mercenaries for your album. I think the drums sound great most of the time though.

I dunno... I don't know why I found them so distracting on a lot of songs... but I did.

Both sound so so good on this. I'd grown tired of the demos after the initial new song wow factor because they were tired in production and it wound me up that the potential was wasted. They're good tunes but certain elements sounded horrible (the "sound, sound, sound" bit in the demo STC in particular). Now they're here as fully fledged tunes and I'm mightily impressed.

They're great, refreshing, and add SO MUCH to the album. I couldn't be any more satisfied with them...

For those curious, Noel plainly said it was a friend of his who played the guitar solo on Stop The Clocks. It's in the NME track by track video. Said he won't play it live because he can't play like the guy who did the solo, who played it "a bit like Jeff Beck". He didn't play the solo in Champagne Supernova and he still played the fucking tune live. I declare shenanigans!!!!!

Noel seems to be TERRIFIED of guitar solos in general ever since Be Here Now. I have no idea what put him off them so much.

Noel's solo on Champagne Supernova during the BHN tour was freaking epic. I'm sure he could pull off the STC solo with no problem.

Whatever you can do drugged up, you can do sober. That's my philosophy.

You are right of course but the drugs give some people the the confidence and the "looseness" to do it when being sober doesn't. Trust me, I'm a guitarist ; ) (booze makes me a mess on guitar though). We know that Noel's not comfortable with being in the spotlight on stage and the drugs just gave him that edge - it's no coincidence that they were a better live force then than after they all sobered up!

I'm holding out till next week, in effect I've got 7 newish songs to look forward to it... I can't wait to have it blasting out my car.. Regarding RM and STC if we hadn't heard these before, we'd be more excited but we've been listening to these tracks for 3 and a half years, so you get an opinion on them and you imagine what it should sound like... The best example is Arctic Monkeys.. Their first album I had the demos for a few months, like most people... When they released the album I thought and others thought too that the songs sounded over produced, Mardy Bum people said "oh he sounds like he recorded it after a night on the ciggies it's rubbish... Now you listen to the demos and they sound awful compared to the record... It's because of what your used to which is why when people say " I prefer the demo of IIHAG and RM" it's because of what they heard before that there used too... No doubt Live Forever and DLBIA were better in demo form... That's what I hate about all the demo stuff and people making their own tracks like EOTR, people have misconceptions of the sound and then are naturally disappointed......damn you you tube and the like... Problem is me included were hooked on hearing any new stuff..

I saw Oasis on their DOYS tour in 2008. I would say their shows then were better then some of the ones they had in their early days, especially when Liam was rambling about tits, lads, and his hair-do.

I'm actually really, really happy that Record Machine isn't guitar-ladden. This way it's very different from the usual Oasis sound, which makes it much more special. Noel did everything right with this one.
