The mgmt have done an amazing (infuriating) job of preventing the album from leaking...
... so why release it in Japan a week before the UK? Crazy!?

Probably some sort of marketing ploy or a problem with shipping, it doesn't really matter, if you want to hear the album on the japanese release you will be able to.

life is unfair. We will never ever again have the experience of going to the reccord store, buying the album, ruching home and listen to it for the very first time all because of this. Unless I would not listen to the leak ofcourse.  |

This has always been the case. Japan get everything first due to albums being expensive over there...to entice them to buy it instead of waiting for a cheaper import.
It was the same for DGSS, DOYS, DBTT etc etc

Why does it matter? Once Japan gets it, thanks to the internet, the rest of the world will have it. Staggered release dates are pointless in this day and age.

It's to encourage the Japs to buy it, as a lot of the time they can buy imports cheaper, so they always get an earlier release date and bonus tracks to boot.

So they believe they will make more money from the Japan first week sales than they'll lose to people pirating in the Uk and elsewhere. I just don't get why they don't have the same release date but give the Japanese their bonus tracks. And if the Japanese import it - so what, they still make money from those sales... |

So they believe they will make more money from the Japan first week sales than they'll lose to people pirating in the Uk and elsewhere. People that pirate albums were going to pirate the album anyway, regardless of the release schedule. Early leaks don't really lose any sales....people were either going to pay for it or not anyway. In fact, leaks probably help promote the album. |

I agree, Noel's fans will buy the album anyway. It would boost sales to leak it early, get people talking about it that might not already be a fan.
How would I find the japan leak to download?
I already pre-ordered the album, bought all the singles, listened to the b-sides on repeat. NEED the album!

I completely disagree with anyone who thinks that leaks help an artists sales. Case in point (and I'm probably going to be crucified by some members of this forum for this but hey, it's the truth) - as a big oasis fan I fully intended to buy DGSS on the day of release until I heard it and thought, meh I'll pick it up for £3 in a HMV sale...
If Noel's album leaks and turns out to be shit I'll do exactly the same.
