I presume most people who visit this forum are into guitar based britrock, britpop, indie kind of bands like Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, Beady Eye etc, but what is the genre of this kind of music? I know a certain kind of attitude, style and sound I like, and Live4ever.uk seems to nail it pretty much on the head but i sometimes finding myself struggling to find a term for it. Shall we just say britrock?
Also, is there any other sites that cater for the kind of bands Live4ever cover?

I have it under "Rock" and sometimes under "Rock/Pop". iTunes usually wants to call the genre Indie or Alternative...but it's Rock to me.

Alternative and Indie is probably how best to describe my taste. I wouldn't say full on rock though.

I love what you call "folk" as well, but in the end of the day, genre doesn't really matter. You love what you love and not for genre.

Thats all very well, and i do like a wide diversity of music, but it makes it slighlty difficult if i want to search for music of a similar style of bands i mentioned. No on likes to call it britpop anymore as it went out of fashion, i just did a blog about some bands around Leeds that are within my imaginary genre. littlevegaslies.com/blog.cfm?feature=1330132&postid=1373884

Thanks for the link, steve. I'll have a look of it later. I do love all kinds of music except rap and hip-hop.

Crooked Tongues could probably fit on that playlist as well, although they only have 2 songs up

When people ask me what kind of music I like, I usually say: "British rock, you know britpop, Oasis, Beatles, that kind of stuff" or similar.

Yeah, the brit rock scene is alive in well in Leeds, but its still not the main scene, there is also a lot of artsy fartsy keyboard bands in Leeds, which i dont mind, but not really my thing.

People classify it as indie because they haven't heard of it and it doesn't get played on the radio.
Imma indie kid.

I am an American and thus at an early age I never had much exposure to British music. Most of the music I liked early on consisted of punk rock and punk rock, bands such as Green Day, Sum 41, Blink 182, etc. I do not really listen to them much anymore. I got into Oasis maybe 2 years ago and pretty much love every song they ever did. Recently I have made an effort to listen to more music from Britain, including Blur, Suede, The Stone Roses, etc. So I would say if it is British and it is rock, I will listen to it.
