Loved the DUNE reference! Great video apart from the "Noel Gallagher" bit. I guess it was shoved in to stop Americans thinking it was "Russell Brand's new song".

Not a fan. The whole thing is trying way too hard to be cool for a young audience and as a result looks tacky. Once again my abiding feeling after seeing something from this record is that it is way too overproduced and whatever spark and rawness there once was is gone. And I hate to say it but Noel is looking a bit too old to pull off the cool act with the young ladies. He was always a bit of a geek anyway, but now he is an old geek.

I don't get where the "tacky" description is coming from. It was made with the intended purpose of being campy in the old b movie kind of style. How it looks overproduced is beyond me. I certainly don't think it's overproduced. I believe it's a good spin on the elements of the song. It's a somewhat funny kind of campy thing. Russell Brand is suppose to overact. The acting is suppose to be awkward. It's suppose to be somewhat "full" of itself and quirky. I think it did all those things extremely well. Which is why this video style was perfect for the song. imo And I believe that the video makes the song better.

Gotta say it although it pains me, Noel looks like a dirty old man when he grabs that camera, not cool at all. I like the concept of the video but the Brand part ruins it. I think Liam is a bit mental but I can see now why he dislikes Noel's 'Hollywood' friends if this is the result.

this video is obviously Noel/Russell and Co taking the piss. I don't take it seriously at all but I enjoy it.
If this is going over peoples heads then I can only imagine what they'll think of the AA album. It's always a matter of taste though so respect.

Ok, I should probably qualify my earlier statement by saying that in general I think music videos are a colossal waste of time and money and rarely like them. However, I will try to explain myself a bit better.
Spaneli, I understand perfectly the style they were going for and certainly do not need you to explain to me that Russell brand is supposed to be overacting and camp. That is not the issue, it's just that in my opinion it does not work. The Russell Brand bit felt like Noel pandering to his Hollywood mates while (badly) ripping off The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus. It did not fit with the rest of the video and felt tacked on. Thisgoes not just for the monologue but his appearances in the desert as well.
As for over-production, there are so many effects on this video it is ridiculous. Watch the first 60 seconds and try to count them. Black and white, washed out colour, normal colour, vivid colour, negative images. Scratches, flashes, starfields, even a CGI floating accordion! Now, in my opinion very little of this adds to the presentation of the song (the sped up driving film is an exception) and a fair amount of it gets in the way of that presentation. Basically, play the fucking song and let your friends talk shit someplace else.
But that's just one opinion amongst many, I'm glad some of you are loving it.

Still got the Dune book he signed for me.

Im just waiting for the whole new Infant Sorrow alblum to glory hole! If the rest of the infant sorrow album is as good as his this ill be thrilled!
P.S. liked the video goes well with the song meaning. Noel has experienced a lot more in life than many of us, but he tried to simplify it for us here,

Nice one with the usual cast of cliches and neophytic film theory takes. "Oh, it's in B movie style, so overproduction and overacting is apt...." with unsubstantiated deductions on why music fits moving images. If you're gonna at least try, at least give up something we can chomp on, cause all you're doing is rehashing some rejoinders that a fuckin neophyte would proudly put forth. Just shut it down already, you twit.

So anyways, WAL video is definitely one of the best I've seen from Noel. And definitely better than the FD and IOT videos.
Brilliantly done imo.

It's good, I like it, though I agree with some of the criticisms talked about here.
The Russell Brand bit is boring and pointless, imo. The video should've started with the highway. That works pretty well, except from Noel filming (in general he looks very uncomfortable acting, but I'm ok with that) because it does look kinda pervy. Overall, good video and the best among the three in my book.

Like all the videos, but I don't get how the story's are related. Sure, there are some returning characters and we learn how Noel actually gets from one place to another, but what is actually happening in this trilogy? :s
