To be Honest its talking the piss, using old songs on HC and now hes done the same on the new album and he hasnt written the whole thing. Are Noels best days dehind him? One thing though i recon liams songs will be belters, like the last album.

No... he can't write stuff like rock and roll star anymore though can he?
He's nearly 40... if he's writing about sex, drugs and life on the road it's crap.
I love Noels new stuff (such as Idler's Dream, Just Getting Older etc.) He knows he's not young anymore and that he has kids to think about.
Why is everybody worried about Noel's writing these days? He's still Noel and he's still given us all the great stuff before, he's also giving Liam, Gem and Andy a chance so less stuff is written by him anyway.
Noel if anything has improved as a singer and guitarist since the early stuff so he's technically better in those fields

Im not douting the quality of his output, or what he writes about, i would be more than happy for him to turn into Neil Young and write folk songs, but he just doest seem to write that much anymore, or isnt that botherd, were as i think Liam is, in the 60s, 70s, bands and artists used to have an album out each year such as Neil Young he had a spell from 70 to 79 were he put out a top album each year. I just get the felling that Noel isnt that fussed, I know he dosnt have to prove himself, I just wish he still had the hunger.

Noel was doing the same back during the BHN sessions. All Around The World was around in 93. A lot of bands keep material around for awhie and use it down the line.

I agree. Plus, the band's got another 50 odd songs to release in the future. (About 3 albums of songs) Noel can't possibly write at the pace he was during Morning Glory...

Well the way I imagine it, Noel wrote the first three albums (plus all them bsides) back when he was doing fuck all back in Manchester way back when.. Like Alan McGee said on the DM dvd- "I think he had 50 songs when he met me, and would lie saying he had just written one." I believe it...At least 85% of em were probably there before they got a record deal. After BHN, it seems like his song writing has been more of a struggle. Don't get me wrong: I love the recent tunes, but I feel they lack the 'umph' and consistency that Noel's songs had back in the day...esp DM and WTSMG. I hope some of that original magic can be rekindled for the new album (not to say I'm looking for another cigs&alcohol). It's just seems like he's digging deeper and deeper into a drying well...

yea but hes not drying up....hes getting older and more wise he wants it to be a band not Noel Gallagher and Oasis i think he wants it to be Oasis so hes letting liam, gem, and andy have a turn at the plate see what they can put out
i could be wrong though

Not sure I believe they have written 66 songs (I hope i am wrong though)....that is enough for at least another 3 albums when you take into account ones that may not make it on the record and b sides.....
It took them 5 years to come up with SOTSOG, HC and DBTT!
Then Noel said there is going to be 12 songs on the new one and now according to the nme tracklisting there is only 11 songs....what happened!
Having said all this like many I am not worried with quality it is quantity that concerns me.....
