Does anyone know why David McDonnell from The Sand Band isn't in High Flying Birds anymore? The Sand Band, who I really like, tweeted a message a couple of weeks back simply saying he was no longer playing with them. There was also an interview on Italian radio when Noel said 'He didn't work out.' when HFB did that mime thing for TDOYAM on TV there was no replacement. I was wondering if that's why they mimed as Noel might struggle to play lead, rhythm and sing?

What lead guitar are you talking about?

Daves a lovely guy. Last time I saw him was in may and I had just missed a sand band gig and I asked him if they had any more gigs coming up and he said not for a while because they are finishing their second album. Think he wanted to just focus on that. Next time I see him I'll try and ask what happened.

TBH for what lead guitar we've heard Noel could easily do all the guitar parts live.

Cheers. And regarding the lead guitar, even if it's not a guitar-heavy album he might change the sound for live performances. Beady Eye had female backing singers on the album but not on tour so there's a good chance Noel wont bring a string section, a brass section and a choir to replicate the recordings. Either way he'll likely have to embellish the guitar with small fills and riffs and almost any live musicians will tell you an extra guitar is pretty important if you don't want the sound to be thin or hollow at those points.

nobody really knows what the guitar situation will be like on tour, it's a mystery and a little worrisome considering I'ved shelled out $200+ on tickets so far

Dont worry there will be a second guitarist. There's no way Noel will come up onstage with his guitar alone.
