Rollwithit posted this on Oasis Troll Central (Soapbox): this is actually stunning to me it has not leaked yet. I know of 4 offices currently that I have spoken to whom have the album to review as of this Tuesday. Baffling. Good for them though they seem to be weeding out some rats. And what the fuck are you taking work off for? shit man. If this was a couple years ago we would've had the album a lot sooner, the penalty's are too harsh now to take the chance, I would never do it personally....or would I?

Only two weeks away. It's unlikely we'll have a leak now. It would have happened already. The guy who wrote that is making every possible effort to write with proper English, lol, but it's just not working for him.

Funny. It doesn't feel like it's imminent.

Are leaks intentional?
Think about it: If the general consensus is that the hard core fans will buy the album regardless, wouldn't it make sense to leak the album ahead of time in order for the hardcore fans, who would be the only ones paying attention to a leak, to download it and thus generate excitement? This would eventually lead to an increase in sales for the record company: Majority of the hardcore fans who downloaded the 'leak' would then buy the album, but the excitement generated would ripple through the rock world as they tell the casual fan how good the album is. Thus, come release day, maximized sales.....
Regardless, I agree that whether if it's tomorrow or one day prior, it will be leaked.

That may be to stupidest thing that I have ever heard.
People don't rave about leaks any more than they heard it the first time on the release date.

That may be to stupidest thing that I have ever heard. People don't rave about leaks any more than they heard it the first time on the release date. Well I believe there's a recent Noel interview floating around claiming that leaks are intentional, so..... Also, there are many people who don't download illegally for whatever reason. Generating excitement prior to the release date is important. Ever heard of promoting an album? For fucks sake, if you take your own logic: Why promote an album if people are just going to rave the same way about it the day of the release? Stupid. It's all about generating excitement. The more excitement, the more success, it's not that hard to comprehend.

I could imagine a record company leaking a single to create hype as single sales mean fuck all, but not an entire album.

I never said I believed that. I was simply postulating an idea. Is it really moronic to discuss possibilities? No, I don't think so. And as Happy has pointed out, it's not improbable, at least not with singles in his mind. I think your criticism is well off kilter here, but whatever. Don't question anything ever. See how far that gets you.

Such hostility in this thread. My goodness.
I don't think leaks matter anymore. A few years ago they may have put a dent in sales, but now they don't. Fans of the artists will buy the music. People who know where to illegally download music, will download it for free. Everyone else will never know it exists or turn into a fan. That's it.
Music is so accessible now, you can taste test it on youtube and a million other websites. You don't have to buy anything to listen to it so you either like it enough to pay for it, or you don't...or you like it but you're too cheap to buy it.

I've waited soo long for a leak now that I'm pretty certain that It won't leak and I might die before Oct 17th and I'll never get to hear it. It's fucking ludicrous that it hasn't leaked yet, this isn't fucking Michael Jackson's beyond the grave comeback album, it's not earth shattering shit, so why it's being sooo tightly kept under lock and key? It can only really mean one thing, the people who have had the chance to leak it didn't really give a fuck about doing such a thing.

Simple. Record companies have improved on preventing things from leaking. The album's quality has nothing to do with it.
By the way, Kasabian's album leaked September 9th right? About a week and a half from release?

You'll have it by the 12 at the latest I think. If I remember correctly that is when it drops in Japan?

you gotta remember we're not the only ones who want to hear it. there will be other people who will be making an effort to get this album leaked.
kanye west and jay-z's collaborative album made a lot of news for the album not having leaked, because they had the album released digitally first (through iTunes) at midnight and then dealt out physical copies afterwards. I'm pretty sure the situation was somewhat similar with the last Radiohead album in that digital copies were put out first. I think because they're digital, and usually released through one source (hence the lack of advance reviews for both albums) this stops any chances of leaks. Not to say it can't happen but right now that's the most strongest method to avoiding an early album leak. In any case, this album won't be like those in that they'll be putting CDs out and shipping them to stores, etc.
A leak will definitely occur, the only question really is when.
