How do you think his vocals will hold up on the tour, bar the stop the clocks tour, this will be the first time he will have to regularly sing constant for a few months. As he seems to like singing falsetto alot do you think his voice will be able to last? Discuss

I feel that Noel will maintain a consistency and avoid the hugely variable vocal performances that his brother turned out over the course of single tours. By that I mean that Liam's high points will never be matched by Noel (for sheer heartfelt emotion, clarity and rock power) but it's unlikely Noel will ever turn out any real live clunkers like Liam regularly did post 2002. Noel's falsettos live are always carefully measured and not as accomplished as their recorded counterparts as evidenced by The Importance of Being Idle.
Going solo for all songs over an extended period will certainly test him live- his hesitation about being the frontman might even have something to do with that... A track like AKA What A Life! will definitely require focus night after night.
If things go awry, he can always use the feeble excuse that his bandmates had their guitars turned up too loud and he had to shout to be heard...

After listening to the acoustic TDOYAM I'm a bit concerned. His voice has considerably weakened in the last few years and all the falsetto doesn't make it easier. Let's hope he manages to pull it off for the whole tour - unless 2008/9 Liam, he has no Noel Gallagher to support him with backing vocals

it's a very different thing playing 90 minutes a nighet and signing them all, instead of a few throughout the set. I think the 'team noel' lot who slag off liam's live vocals might have a few words to eat soon The thing is, you can kind of get away with rough vocals if it's "rock'n'roll", but not so much when you're putting it forward as 'songwriter/singer". still at least it'll never be as bad as John Squire solo gigs!

His voice has considerably weakened in the last few years... What in the blue hell gives you this impression? I think he'll obviously have nights where he sounds better than others, but he won't be singing loud rock songs where he'll be shouting and things like that. We also know he'll take the whole thing seriously and will do what he needs to to preserve his voice. I think if he has a rough night and has trouble with the falsettos, he'll just sing them lower in his normal voice.

He's a completely different type of singer to Liam. Liam was straining his vocals cords with his stance and then shouting out lyrics. Not hard to see why his voice deteriorated so much. People like Bono and Kelly Jones have been singing for years now and can still pull out the performances, and I think the way they sing strains their vocal cords more.

If anything, Noel's voice will get better and better. It just has to get used to being used that much. As long as he takes care of it, it will.

Truth be told, I am a little worried about Noel. Not because of any recent performances, just because he has never carried the entire load of singing on a tour.

He sang whole gigs for STC although they were acoustic, and several for Oasis in the 90's. I don't think you'll find him under any illusions about it being easy.
Bands with responsible singers that take care of their voices generally do alright on tour. Liam was a special case...Noel is a very different person to Liam
If he has issues he could always do what he used to and pull an acoustic set out in the middle of the show as a breather

It is a lot easier to take care of a "Noel sounding voice" over the course of a tour than it is to take care of a "Liam sounding voice", if that makes any sense.

His voice has considerably weakened in the last few years... What in the blue hell gives you this impression? The few HFB performances we've heard so far. Of course, all three singles are rather hard to sing...but I still think his voice is weakening. I'd be happy if he proves me wrong on the tour though!

Of course he has lost some power, even the strongest voices like Eddie Vedder are not as strong as when they were in their twenties. The only singer I know who has kept his voice 100% is Steven Tyler, he's even singing better now than in the 70's. But Noel will be fine, he still has a good vocal range.
