Well noel wrote the bulk of the songs on the album. I would say that Noel wrote Lyla.

Liam? u know i think LIAM may have penned this tune....awhile back NOEL said when liam was in jail overnight in germany he wrote 3 songs and 1 sounded exactly like "THE WHO"..that was 3 years ago and NOEL just said this was a song they revisited and he also said it sounds like "the who" so maybe this is the tune he spoke of  |

Noel said he wrote only 3 songs in the album and Noel already named "Guess God Thinks I'm Able" and "The Meaning Of Soul" on really recent interview... also Courtney Love added about the other song by Liam which was "The Boy With The Blues"... if no one lied in those interviews, it cannot be written by Liam...

i believe that it's not Liam's... Noel said he wrote only 3 songs in the album and Noel already named "Guess God Thinks I'm Able" and "The Meaning Of Soul" on really recent interview... also Courtney Love added about the other song by Liam which was "The Boy With The Blues"... if no one lied in those interviews, it cannot be written by Liam... or it could mean that they replaced 1 LIAM tune for another....remember NOEL said they re visited this tune..as for courtney love dont think she is gospel when it comes to OASIS or anything for that matter |

I heard Lyla was supposed to be the name of kate Moss's daughter.
or alternatively its the girl in Phillip Pullmans - his dark materials trilogy - maybe the writer is becoming a literary buff !
or perhaps they've been listening to Clapton and couldn't spell it right
who knows
but the suspense is killing me.

I know what you are all feeling man. The suspense is fever pitch now that we have titles, and single/album release dates.
As for the title 'Lyla' I refrain from reading too much into it at this point. In seeing the following song titles before hearing the song, I learned my lesson not to play guesswork lol........
