I really love IIHAG. While I do sense that something may be missing (poor production maybe?), It is without a doubt a great song. I'd probably label it a tier 3 noel song and a borderline tier 2. (Tier 2 being amongst the likes of Full on, Cast No Shadow, Rock n Roll Star)
My question to all of you is if "IF I Had A Gun" is the best on the album, will you be dissapointed? I for one have a feeling that it will be amongst the best on the album as i do not think we will have a clear cut favorite. However, lets say that it IS the clear cut favorite. Will you be somewhat dissapointed?

yes id be disappointed since it's quite boring. It had potential but it's ruined by monotony and poor (rushed) production

(Tier 2 being amongst the likes of Full on, Cast No Shadow, Rock n Roll Star) uuuh what?? Full On is up there with CNS and RNRS? I guess its all a matter of taste, considering CNS is my favorite Oasis tune. I'd say that IIHAG is second tier for Noel and I think it could develop into a first tier over the next couple of years but we'll see. But yes I would be mildly disappointed if IIHAG is the best tune. I expect it to be one of the better ones but i hope it isn't the best. I'll settle for one tune being better but I expect a better song to be on the album since I rate IIHAG a 9/10. But in the end if it is the best tune and the rest of the albums songs are really good (like TDOYAM/WAL) I can't complain too much.

I love IIAG (I prefer the studio version to the acoustic one) so wouldn't be disappointed. But from what i've heard of EOTR, RM and STC they sound as good as IIAG.

If I Had A Gun is a half-baked half-assed wanna be Creed/Nikkelback attempt at creating a US breaking rock ballad. Its not the best song on the album, heck its not even the best track on the single

Don't know if I'd be disappointed or not. I think there will be 1 or 2 that are as good or better.
At the risk of being crucified, I never understood the allure of songs like Hey Now! and Cast No Shadow. IIHAG, TDOYAM, and WAL are all better than both of them for me.

I too still have the feeling EOTR will be the fave amongst the diehard NG/Oasis clan.

I'm more disappointed that you think Full On is a tier 2 Noel tune.

It really is a great and classis noel song, but i'm not into the production. The mix is nearly mono, and the drums doesn't feel tight. I get what Noel and Sardy have tried to do in the production, but it just doesn't work. You can't have electric guitars doing powerchords that doesn't follow the drums because one/both of them are untight. Listen to the first verse after the drums kick in. And the last chorus is just a mess. Morning Glory 'sounds' great compared.
If it sets the standard of the songwriting, it's good. If it sets the standard for the production it's a disaster.

You can say the song is shit, I don't care, but it doesn't sound a thing like Creed or Nickleback and it certainly doesn't lend itself to an American audience.

I'm more disappointed that you think Full On is a tier 2 Noel tune. Just my opinion. If its such a dissapointment to then i do dearly apologize. Certainly you have a song or two in "your" tier 2 that someone else would disagree with no? Full on is epic and stands toe to toe with any post BHN track IMO.

IIHAG has an effortless greatness to it that Noel hasn't been able to capture since Be Here Now. I expect it to be the best on the album.
Great, timeless song.

(Tier 2 being amongst the likes of Full on, Cast No Shadow, Rock n Roll Star) Full On ?? Seriously? Alright tune but those other two are streets ahead, and then some.

I already know that for me IIHAG will be at least the second best as I love EOTR and expect the album version to be amazing. I honestly hope that there will be more songs I will prefer to IIHAG - it's a very good song but Noel can do better. I gave it a 9/10 anyway.
