can anyone tell me the whole story behind this song?
i know that noels not the only writing credit for the tune... and i know theres something about him pinchin it off of stevie wonder.... whats the details?

Well he basically completley ripped-off the song 'Uptight' by Stevie Wonder. It was going to be on Morning Glory, but they had to take it of at the last minute when Stevie Wonders lawyer asked for a third of the royalties or something.

no, i think that's not right... i just found on Familiar to Millions that Step Out writing credits are Gallagher/Wonder/Cosby/Moy....

i think thats stupid. look, jet completely ripped off iggy pop AND phil collins for their first single. plus live forever is shine a light by the stones, cig and alcohol is get it on by trex what makes stevie think his song is so special that he gets 1/3? shine a light sounds nothing at all like live forever??!!! it has very similar chords to the verse of dont look back in anger i noticed! |

i always wondered what stevie wonder song it was in question...
so i had a listen to 'uptight' just now, heard it before but just didn't know the name i guess.... sorry but i can't see how stevie could ask for a third of that track?
it ain't that close, i could think of 200 better examples of someone rippin off someone else than step out- uptight.... whatever. fuck motown

It was a rip-off of "Uptight" by Wonder and of "Rosalie" by the Thin Lizzy...it's right about the credit. Althought there are some copies around with Step out on the album.
