so AKA..WAL! charted at #20.
considering it
A. was poorly promoted B. was ignored by Radio 1 C. isnt a product of S*mon C*well D. staggered release
this is an outstanding result for the song, which makes me wonder where the success came from, is it the Vauxhall advert, the quality of the tune or just Noels reputation.....
thoughts?

Got to be a combination, but strongly helped by Vauxhall. Ironically, the same ad may have also hurt if the rumors about being unable to push up the physical release to take advantage of the publicity are true.

how many copies did it sold? can't imagine it sold that much when it's only on 20.

It's safe to assume more people bought this than TDOYAM

It's due to the Vauxhall ad which is constantly being played. If TDOYAM got an on an ad that popular it would have easily gone top ten imo.Bearing in mind What a Life is a pretty average track and it's done really well

We should expect a new push for the alboom this week: new listening sessions (FULL ALBUM this time) are scheduled for the next three days. New reviews are imminent.

I think it also appealed to a minority of those who aren't Oasis listeners at all - one of my mates posted it on facebook and claimed he loves it despite his music tastes being far off Oasis.
It's a very catchy tune as well, I absolutely love the tune.

It's a very catchy tune as well, I absolutely love the tune. I think the choice of singles have been very good if that's the intended purpose. IIHAG was the obvious US single because it was something that Americans could identify with. It had that classic Oasis sound. TDOYAM was nice safe UK single. Something that sounded like Noel, and only Noel. Basically a song where no one could say, "I wonder what Liam would have sounded on that?". And while TDOYAM and IIHAG were for the casual fans, WAL purpose seems to be for broadening the audience a bit. So in that sense, all of the single have fulfilled their "purpose".

Can't like this song, I've tried but it's just not happening. tbf, I don't think the purpose is for you to like the song But to clear that up. I don't think the "purpose" is for any of us to like the song. I think WAL was used as a single to try and broaden Noel's audience. I'd have to say, Mission Accomplish. I have friends who have heard WAL (and other Noel tracks) who hated Oasis, yet now they've said that they're buying his solo album. I don't think WAL is really for the Oasis fanbase, I think it's for those outside of the fanbase.
