Not quite mainstream, but a great, great band. One of my most favourite bands since 2007. For just a few people who love them on here including me: Go to their myspace then you can download their brand new free acoustic EP. Brilliant.

The EP has 8 acoustic tracks including "Suck" by The Wedding Present. It's fantastic matt.

It's brilliant isn't it, more bands should follow their lead. This band gives a lot back to their fanbase, shame more don't.

I completely agree, matt. Such a brilliant band, but somewhre in my heart, I don't want them to be very popular, very well-known and I think you'll know what I mean.
I just saw them in Paradiso last night. It was the Fat Cat (their record company) Tour featuring We Were Promised Jetpacks, The Twilight Sad and Mazes. The Sads were fantastic. Very short set (half an hour) but started with "That Summer At Home I Became The Invisible Boy" and ended with "And She Would Darken The Memory". The live version of "Cold Days From The Birdhouse" always makes you breathless.
Mazes were better live than the album btw.

I seen them almost exactly last year at The Lemon Tree in Aberdeen - fantastic gig in a fantastic venue. You got any idea when their next studio LP is coming out?

I thought their third album would come out in September or October this year, but they were only selling EP's and albums in Paradiso last week. I saw Andy, the guitarist of the band walking outside the venue before the gig. I should have asked him about it!
I did read in a magazine a while ago that they released "The Wrong Car" (EP) last year cos this song wouldn't "fit" to their new album.

The Twilight Sad New album and exclusive streaming preview announced
The closer to The Twilight Sad's forthcoming third full-length, No One Can Ever Know (due February 2012), 'Kill It In The Morning' is a sinister-yet-melodic peek into the newly keyboard/programming-driven approach they've taken on the new LP.
Download from the band's website, or streamed on Soundcloud.

Thanks Elias.
They played the new single in Paradiso last week. They're getting darker and heavier, aren't they? Have you heard their acoustic EP yet, Elias?

Thanks Elias. They played the new single in Paradiso last week. They're getting darker and heavier, aren't they? Have you heard their acoustic EP yet, Elias? Love the acoustic EP mimmi, especially as it contains a track by Leeds locals The Wedding Present I would agree they're getting heavier, but unlike Glasvegas, who let's face it are desperate to be The Twilight Sad, they aren't losing sight of their wonderful underlying melodies.

I always thought The Wedding Present were Scottish for some reason ;D Stupid of me. They've done covers of The Smiths and Joy Division as well, but you already know that.

Got it today, and it's impressive. I think it's better than Forget The Night Ahead. It's like synthed up shoegazing this one - love the sound of it.
