There a thread in the Lounge section that was called the "bands You Like But You Don't", and Led Zeppelin was mentioned probably more than any other artist. Which surprised me. I was expecting bands like Radiohead and the Velvet Underground, just because they seem to be the usual suspects, but Led Zeppelin. I was pretty amazed to see them mentioned that many times.
Of course, I personally love them. I consider Led Zeppelin IV to just be one of those albums that pretty hard not to like. I mean this thread isn't to demeen anyone's music taste. I know that everyone has their own taste, and no band will be liked by everyone. But it did surprise that Led Zeppelin was named so many times.
So if you like Led Zeppelin than who them whole lotta love (couldn't resist it) here. And if don't like them that much or not at all, then discuss that here too.

i love me some Led Zeppelin. I don't think there has ever been a band that has made as many epic songs. Bonzo is just a master, that kick drum sound will live on forever. Plant is over rated in my books but Page and Jones are pretty damn good players. Page can be a bit sloppy at times but still amazing nonetheless. One of the most talented bands from a musician's standpoint. I'd rank them up there with the who and the stone roses solely for the band's guitar, bass and drumming talents.

I could start a similar thread about Pink Floyd

I don't hate Led Zep, but I don't really get into them that much. I don't own any of their albums, not that I haven't listened to them in their entirety. It's alright. Better than most stuff, just not my cup of tea I guess.
Also, if you enter a guitar store in this country you will inevitably hear two things...1. Stairway to Heaven and 2. Metallic riffs. It is soooooooooooooooo fucking annoying.
Cheers!
Blame growing up in a different generation!

LZ is great, even thou it isn't one of my favorite bands.
I only heard they first five albums and LZ4 could very well be the best album from the 70's.

JitKenson hits the nail on the head for me when he says growing up in a different generation is to blame. I don't deny that they are a great band but like many others, I can't get into them. There is a tendency for youngsters like myself to think of themselves as dinosaur rock and that Jimmy Page is all just unfashinable guitar fret wankery with his solos. Of course, that's ignorant but for me, none of their songs particularly stick in my head but then again, my music taste is completely different in that my favourite bands are big on the poppy melodies like Oasis, Blur, Stone Roses and The Smiths.

For ages I used to shrug off Led Zeppelin as the most over-rated band ever. Then, maybe four years ago, after a good night out and a few beers, I stuck on a few of their tunes, think it was some obvious ones likes 'Rock n Roll', 'Immigrant Song', 'Good Times, Bad Times' etc, and suddenly something just hit me. I felt compelled to go out and discover as much of their back catalogue as I could, and I just totally fell in love with the band.
Whether it's the stretched out blues of I and II, the classic acoustic rock of III, the absolute prog greatness of IV, or the scope and scale of Physical Graffiti, I just think they are one of those bands every rock fan should have in their life. As someone said earlier, never trust someone who doesn't like Led Zep, and while I wouldn't go that far, having not liked them for a good while, I wonder how I, and any fan, of rock n roll could not want them in their lives. Yep, one of the very, very best.

That was the great thing about Led Zeppelin. They weren't restricting into being in a box as artists. They could really do it all. And for that reason it's always surprised me when people say that they can't get into them. They're a band that really are able to appeal to whole swath of musical taste.

IV is overrated, Physical Graffiti and House of the Holy is where it's at.

I and II are probably my favorites. I just love that bluesy era for them but III, IV, Physical Graffiti and House of the Holy are all great albums.

I cannot stand Led Zeppelin, it's just a load of dreary 1970's stadium rock to me, just horrible.

i actively judge those who don't like led zeppelin. example? i will never start a band with anyone who doesn't like the zep.

Led Zeppelin's really great and I'd never take them away from anyone, but I generally skew more "songy" taste-wise.

led zeppelin are simply brilliant. the first four albums are untouchable. i really can not see any band as equal as those four musicians were. perfectly matching each other with their talent, perfectly balanced.
i have spent a small fortune over the years collecting the original first pressings of each and every album and they sound truly primal!
led zep 3 was always my favourite though. best acoustic album ever recorded and vastly underrated.
and the covers are works of art.

Though I haven't listened to them for several years, they are obviously one of the greatest bands of all time.
