The 2nd North American single? I think most of us would agree that noel wants to do well in america with this album, and isn't the 2nd single usually an albums potentially strongest song? I'm expecting this to be the case for noels album. Obviously he's tried to reach a broader range in the U.k with AKA.what a life. But I'm expecting the albums home run to be the next single over hear in canada and the states. I also expect "if i had a gun" to do fairly well once it starts getting regular airplay which should be soon as 102.1 the edge is still in the 1st stages with it.

The lead US single should have been "AKA... What a Life!" The song's immediate and obvious crossover potential would give Noel more stateside exposure than he's had since the release of Be Here Now. This song lends itself to countless ads, film soundtracks, and stadium PAs.

I don't really think he gives that much of a toss about America to be perfectly honest.

I think Everybody is on the run could be the best song on the album, but not the most commercial one. Record Machina could be the next single, "the big one". Reviews said Dream on was great too... pure speculation anyway

I know that IIHAG is doing pretty well on the US Alt. Rock Charts. He's currently #34 there. Which is amazing considering the US Alt. Rock Charts is a major chart, IIHAG doesn't have a music video, and Noel is basically a borderline second tier artist in the US.
As for Canada: Of course The Edge has played as you pointed out (it got 12 plays last week on there I want to say), and it's been played 13 times on Vancouver's 99.3 Fox Rocks.
It may be that the 2nd US single is the strongest. IIHAG was an obvious choice for the first just because it's a lot like Oasis and it has some nice wide appeal. Record Machine makes the most sense as a single. They'll want to go commercial, they'll want it to sound close to Oasis. RM just seems right. Whether it's the best song on the album who knows. I doubt it because I think EOTR might be the best. But EOTR probably isn't commercial enough. So I think he'll go with RM.

I expect Record Machine to be the "big" single.
