I don't mean in sales, I mean in quality.
Yes, I know the albums are completely different in sound, Kasabian's Velociraptor! is fast paced pure rock, whereas Noel's album is slower and softer.
And before anyone criticizes me for doubting Noel, I remain absolutely confident he will release a classic album.
I'm not a hardcore Kasabian fan. I liked their previous 3 albums, but they always came across as a band lacking something, lacking that extra bit of quality. But this 4th album is the best thing I've heard so far this year, simply stunning.
Can Noel top this album? Can anyone? It's going to be tough.....

Velociraptor! Surprised me as it's a lot more melodic than what they have done before but still shows signs of classic kasabian in there. I reckon it will come down to personal choice and will be close between the two but I've got a feeling Noels album will age better as time goes by, although both will comfortably be in my top 5 records of the year I think.

After their last album, Kasabian has kind of lost touch with me. So I'm going with Noel all the way on this one.

Shouldn't the question be if Kasabian can better Noels album?

Kasabian's album is great but it's not the best of 2011, not even in the top 10. Noel's album will be much better.

Yeah, definitely. I love Noel's kind of writing, and it's always extremely catchy. His writing on DOYS was incredibly inspired, compared to a lot of the SOTSOG-HC era. But then I'm biased. I'm too subjective to see how good it really is in the first months. DGSS and DOYS declined in quality (because of BDI's contributions) as time passed by, while DBTT's quality increases.

Shouldn't the question be if Kasabian can better Noels album? Kasabian's album is out there to be heard, whereas Noel's isn't yet. So no

Bit like comparing apples to oranges... No, I'm quite sure music can be compared. It's not like we're comparing Noel's music to a coffee machine.

Easily. Velociraptor! is as inconsistent as every other Kasabian album.

I'm quite sure music can be compared. Yes music can be compared, just like fruit, I'm just not that into doing it. One of these albums will be aggressive electronic rock, while the other will be more introspective, less guitar driven and possibly string laden. One will be great for listening to when getting ready for a Friday night out, the other will be good to chill out to on a Sunday morning. I'm just not that into saying what album is "overall" better, as your liking of an album depends on who you are, where you're from, what season it is, what day of the week it is, what happened to you that week and what sandwich you had for lunch...

I think the Colour of the Trap should be in this discussion as well if we're kind of taking about an album of the year perspective... because I'm split between Kasabian and Miles Kane... they're both mind blowing... and I'm sure Noel will finish the trio of epic albums

A soggy bag of day-old chips could better anything Kasabian will ever do.

Meh really not digging kasabian's new album. Their albums always are up and down.

The new Kasabian is hardly "fast paced pure rock". If anything it's much more mild than usual. Velociraptor! is rather trippy - might be better compared to the Noel/AA album, imo.

Easily. Velociraptor! is as inconsistent as every other Kasabian album. I would say it's more consistent than the other 3, but unfortunately has no real killer tracks IIHAG is better than anything on there and I have no doubt Noel will repeat the trick for a couple more songs on the album

Of course it can be "compared", but its still subjective. No one is right or wrong about the music they like. The only thing that can be measured is the amount of acclaim a piece of music receives and how opinions correlate. If someone says Coldplay is better than Oasis, you may disagree and I would, but to them thats the truth. As for this topic, who the fuck knows? I like both Noel and Kasabian, so fuck who's "better", I just hope they're both good on whole and have staying power.

I really don't see any appeal in Kasabian. must be whats-his-name's voice. can't be arsed to learn his name. So, to answer your question, yes. what I heard so far of Noel's, far better than this whole album to me.

An opinion is always subjective. So you are saying we shouldn't give an opinion because of its subjectivity? Also, NL4E, you have weird concept of "pure rock"
