Personally, if I wanted to hear an exact version of Slide Away, then I'd go listen to Slide Away, not Jake Bugg singing an exact version that's completely wedded to the original. That's boring. Be an artist. Make it your own. Adapt it to you. If you're not willing to do that then don't cover it. Or better yet, don't broadcast that you covered it. I have more respect for him trying something different and failing, than someone on Youtube doing a version that is completely wedded to the original. One requires some kind of applicable and creative talent, the other one requires the talent of parody. The two best covers of Wonderwall have been version which were unlike the original (Cat Power and Ryan Adams), some of the worse have been the ones that try to keep with fidelity of the original (Duffy). Or hey, imagine how boring Hendrix's cover of All Along the Watchtower would be if he did just as Bob Dylan. I cannot believe you just posted a 140+ word reply to my 2 word question.... Why would Alan McGee leak them without Noels accept? Why would he jeopardize his reputation in the industry? If Alan is responsible for the "leak", I'm guessing Noel isn't too fussed. Why would people continue to make shitty threads and clown acts such as this? If someone had just released the demos all in one post, all of this apparent facade of suspicious activity could have been avoided. This forum is "special." |
