Why are both Noel and BDI only putting out one b-side per single?
Is this common industry practice now, or are they trying to hark back to the 60s or something!?
Last time I checked the chart rules for a single were 3 tracks (that is, 2 b-sides) or an unlimited number of alternative versions of the same song, as long as the whole package is under 20 minutes.
Assuming the guys dont have it in them to write an extra 8 new songs to put out as b-sides for each album, they could still fill that space. I know a lot of people here don't like the remixes but I'd be quite happy with some rather than nothing. Or even better demo versions. Or live versions...

Singles will be obsolete within a year or 2. its just tracks now. Albums will be an outdated art form in about 10 years and that will be the real fucking killer

I think the reason is the format they are launching their music nowadays. In the 90´s they had the chance to put 3 b sides in the same single, then for certain law in the uk about music industry this practice changed to 2 (since the SOTSOG era). And now, since neither of them (Noel or BDI) are releasing cd single formats in the same massive amount, they put 1 song, a reminiscence of 60´s singles like the Beatles´ ones.
The music business has changed, the way you release music also. So I guess b-sides are a very old fashion thing, but at the same time very nostalgic. So don´t expect a NG´s high flying birds b-sides compilation in the next 10 years at least. BDI are in a better way to do it sooner, I think they are more into b-sides...
