Its never been revealed, but I comments made by Noel since makes it pretty pbvious its because Alan didnt hang around with the band after he had finished recording his parts for stuff etc.

Wasn't it because of "commitment" issues or something?

I liked him much as a drummer and even got to meet him during BHN tour. Just keep watching all these vids and keep seeing him. Cant believe hes not in the band.

Zac is also a quality drummer but he a more out-and-out straight rock type drummer which is why he fits in so well to The Who. Alan has a much funkier groove. Only heard Terry Kirkbride on the first Proud Mary record and a couple of Ambershades songs.

According to Steve White's (Alan's brother) website, Alan left Oasis because he had no desire to be in a band anymore. This is from Steve's site, "Hi Biz, no website, no band, no drumming, crying f**king shame if you ask me. The spirit of being in a band was kicked out of him my friend, maybe sometime soon, but he is very happy and very healthy and keeping very well". You can find this reply on Steve's site www.whiteydrums.com in the Talkback/Ask/Replies section.

No problem. I found it quite interesting. I think Alan did lose interest in the band and in drumming. I found that his drumming on the Heathen Chemistry tour was no where as good as his drumming on previous tours.

he also got tendonitis in his wrists which for any drummer so think that may have been a deciding factor also

I'm at my 18 and I'm doing drumming courses. I asked the drummer what is this tendonitis and he said: "it's like an elephant stamp on your hands and forearms". figure it out.
I'm glad alan is ok. maybe he'll return at some point in oasis. and I think that gallaghers miss him, despite showing their arrogance in the press and statements: "he's no longer in the band. we asked him for that. he leaked tHC. his commitment wasn't good." they didn't miss Guigsy and Bonehead, but White - I think if he show up in a couple of years - they'd take him back.

This is only hear say but i have it on good grounds, that it was Alan who let the last album be leaked out by lending a copy of it to a mate. Noel and the rest found out about this and he had to go. It was also pointed out to me that Alan did not do it delibratly. The album was lent in good faith.

I don't think it's the main reason. such things tend to come to the light fast. and I think that the band knew this long before Whitey quit. also I think that because Whitey didn't do it deliberately he wasn't sack. other is the reason. perhaps really his tendonitis problem or his exhaustion from being in the band was also a reason as his brother pointed out.

This is probably a load of bullshit, but, one of my friends uncles is Whiteys best mate or something along those lines and my friend said that Whitey did his parts for the new album and then he wanted to go on holiday, he told Liam he wanted to go on holiday so Liam said no you cant and you're staying in the studio, then Whitey said well I can't deal with this shit, and so Liam said yeah you're sacked and apparently they had a good old bitchfest.
^^Take it for what it's worth

this just doesn't make sense... Where was White during the end of touring Heathen Chemistry. Supposedly he would have a plenty of time resting and "holidaying". It's.... half an year... middle 2003-December 2004. that's plenty of time resting. It just doesn't make sense...
I think what Steve White said is the best. After all Steve is his brother. Probably he and his mom know best what Alan wants and are the only people who know the truth behind his departure. Let alone they are of the few that love him and care about him.
