I was watching football on the telly with some friends lately, and when the commercials came we all lost our attention for the tv. Until I clearly heard the Champagne Supernova tune. It was a Versatel (a communications company) commercial and it showed an UFO blasting a man down because quite obviously he said the wrong things to them with (IMO) the CS tune. My friends all agreed it was the CS tune (half ofcourse, since it didn't go all the way, but it clearly was the beginning, especially when you listen to the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra version). So... Does anyone know more about this or is it just pure coincidence.

I think some other group covered it so that it could be used on the OC.

Its a band called "Matt Pond PA" i think and the song will be on the season finale of the OC.

Oasis classic to feature on The O.C
Oasis are to get a boost in the US - one of their biggest American hits is to be used on The O.C.
The Fox TV show will feature Champagne Supernova on its upcoming season finale - but not Oasis' original version.
American indie rockers Matt Pond PA have covered the song which in 1996 reached the US Top 40 and topped the Billboard Modern Tracks chart for five weeks.
Although Oasis' debut album 1994's Definitely Maybe went Gold in the US selling more than 700,000 to date the band's last album 2002's Heathen Chemistry only debuted at No. 23 in America before disappearing from the chart after a matter of weeks.
The band's sixth as-yet-untitled album due on May 16 has been partly recorded in Los Angeles
