I know we don't have the full details of the releases of IIHAG and AKA...WAL. But this is what I think Noel should (have) do/done.
I believe that in the UK he should make IIHAG and AKA...WAL as double a-sides, with a b-side accompanying it. And in the US, where singles sales don't matter, have IIHAG on it's own or as a double A-side also if he chooses.
I think that he would maximize the impact of both the songs in the UK and possibly the US too, by doing that. That way he could have two unheard songs on one disc. Along with a great song in IIHAG.

Like you said, single sales are kind of irrelevant accept for those true fans that actually buy them. It really doesn't matter how he releases them, they will pass through the media quickly. What matters is the album. That thing is going to be huge!

Like you said, single sales are kind of irrelevant accept for those true fans that actually buy them. It really doesn't matter how he releases them, they will pass through the media quickly. What matters is the album. That thing is going to be huge! Can't wait. amen to that |

I agree. However, I'm afraid Noel didn't make a video for 'If I Had a Gun' and if that's the case that is a wasted opportunity because it seems that youtube videos are great promotion, especially if you can get it to go viral. Hopefully there's one coming but he could be missing an opportunity to capitalize on a great song (or a song that can appeal to more casual fans). I remember I did that with the RHCP's Stadium Arcadium album when it came out. It still takes me back to one of the best weeks of my life whenever I listen to it. |
