If I had a gun, I'd shoot a hole into the sun, and love would burn this city down for you. (so that no one else would be involved but Noel and ?)
If I had the time, I'd stop the world and make you mine, and everyday would stay the same with you. (Much like the few days when they could be together)
Aaahh Aaahh
Give you back the dream, and show you now what might have been, if all the tears you cry would fade away. (i.e. "I need to get back to my wife")
I'll be by your side, when they come to say goodbye, we will live to fight another day.(We could rekindle this in the future)
'Scuse me if I spoke too soon,(timing is bad) my eyes have always followed you around the Room. 'Cus you're the only God that I will ever need, I'm holding on and waiting for the moment to find me. (When Noel will be ready to rekindle this.)
Aaahh Aaahh Aaahh Aaahh
Hope I didn't speak too soon, my eyes have always followed you around the room. 'Cus you're the only God that I will ever need, I'm holding on and waiting for the moment for my heart to be unbroken by the sea. (He wants her, but he's waiting for life to give him an opening to go after her).
Aaahh Aaahh Aaahh Aaahh Aaahh Aaahh Aaahh Aaahh
Let me fly you to the moon, my eyes have always followed you around the room. 'Cus you're the only God that I will never need, I'm holding on and waiting for the moment to find me.
Aaahh Aaahh
If I had a gun, I'd shoot a hole into the sun, and love would burn this City down for you.

Also "...my eyes have always followed you around the room. Cus you're the only God that I will never need, I'm holding on and waiting for the moment to find me." Totally means I see you but I need to wait for the right moment to approach you.

Last post in a row, I promise: "running from the death of you and me" running from Sara? Avoiding people who would be the death of their relationship. (Liam perhaps?)

Last post in a row, I promise: "running from the death of you and me" running from Sara? # Quite the opposite. As he said in the press conference, it's "a romantic song about... people escaping the surroundings they're in ...and having a jolly good time and living happily ever after." Sara is not the death of their relationship, but their surroundings.

This song was written a long time ago, wasn't it? So if the song is actually about what you said it's actually about Sara, don't you think? Just saying...

Well I think my DOYAM comment is a stretch. Sure he could be recalling a time before Sara and this song is how he felt when he'd met her while still with Meg.
What I'm pointing out is that this isn't a traditional Noel love song. This song is about love in a dark circumstance and I think with this and DOYAM, a theme has presented itself.

i picture noel at a party of sorts, in a crouded room of people standing. and theres a beautiful women a "godess" that noel sees and is instantly captivated by her. He would do anything if given the opportunity to meet her, or have her. He contemplates talking to her "excuse me" but she's a god and his imagined "one". The next chorus he "Hopes" he didnt speak to soon.. He heart has been broken, and only this stranger could ment. Finally "fly me to the moon" his imagination runs wild, as he want to propose instant love to her. but alas the day dream ends back to what he would do if he could have her with the verse ending the song. She's not a real girl, likely poor noel would be let down if this Godess and him wound up having a drink. That how my mind plays it out haha

I always give my own meanings to songs, how it relates to myself. But I also think about how it is for the writer. I take TDOYAM as Sara saving Noel from all the coke heads and partying from Meg, and IIHAG as maybe him wanting to leave Meg for Sara. but it's really about how what it means to you the listener, that's what music is for.

Isn't IIHAG more a story of a guy who is in love with a girl but never acts on it? Or rather, acts on it too late.
"Waiting for the moment to find me" "If I had the time I'd stop the world to make you mine." "My eyes have always followed you around the room"

Both songs could be talking about the same but it's quite impossible they are actually about the same thing or person because IIHAG was writen like ten years ago and The death of you and me is supposed to be new...

I always just think of this smokin' babe in my math class when listening to this song or any pretty lady for that matter who causes your eyes to follow them around the room. Kind of creepy in that sense I suppose. Oh well. Great tune. Sexy girl.

IIHAG was writen like ten years ago Huh? Didn't know that. Source? I don't think it was....Noel sound checking it during the DOYS tour leads me to believe it was a fairly new song. STC and RM have been around for nearly a decade and exactly a decade respectively, though
