Playing Letterman is INVALUABLE for Noel's press and charting success in America. If by some kind of miracle the label is able to get him to be a musical guest on SNL and other high-profile appearances around that time, he'd get a Top 10 chart for sure.
Noel's biggest struggle will just be getting his name and music out there...because those who have heard the album seem to think this is his best collection of songs in several years. It's just so much harder without the 'Oasis' brand to help him out.

You have to have either had just had a big hit in America to get on there, or you have to be an artist that has already had multiple hits in the US. But the Letterman gig should/will help him.

Playing SNL is unlikely, but definitely not an impossibility. The show usually goes for the most successful commercial artists they can book, but they have pulled out some surprises. Last year they had on Ellie Goulding, who was something of a "breakthrough" act. Two years before that they had Phoenix and Ray LaMontagne...whose level of success shouldn't be that hard to match in America.

They had Florence and the Machine shortly after her debut on Letterman too...
It's unlikely they would have him, but that would be awesome. He's witty enough that they could use him in a few skits too.

so we are predicting a top 10 album from Noel now ? look, im not gonna say that is outrageous but let's get real. the only way Noel's album sells the amount of copies needed to chart that high is if the label does its job. In other words, it wouldn't matter if it was Noel Gallagher, Liam Gallagher, or anyone you could think of, OR if the album was a huge pile of shit, if the label does its job, the album is likely to sell and chart well. The amount of the copies really doesn't matter. You could chart in the Top 10 with 20,000 copies depending on the week. And Beady Eye had 15,000 when they charted at #31. So no, it's not out of the realm of possibility. Where you chart in any chart depends on the weeks, more than the actual sells. right, but if that were to happen, Noel would actually make news for all the wrong reasons. THat being, that he's "the first album to sell so little and make the top 10 in 25 years" or some crazy(embarrassing) shit like that. Is that what we really want? it's already happened a couple of times in this summer in the movie business .

People charting in low numbers in Top 10 happens a lot actually. Especially in the last 5 years. Most albums that get to the 10-14 in an average week is about 22,000 albums. Albums in the Top 10/close to the Top 10 rarely have high numbers. The high numbers are usually between 1-8. The rest are 25,000 and under. The current number 10 has about 23,000 about right now. It happens a lot more than people think.

The main variable is the fact that it will be released at the begining of the holiday season.
If Noel was being released in an average week in early October, the I definitely would give him a great chance of charting between 10-14.
But November could kind of go either way. Even in a weak week like Noel is releasing in. He could very be at say #12, and just as easily be at #20.

The #10 album for the proposed week last year (ending November 14th) was 35,000
The #10 album the week after (ending Nov 21st) was 63,000
It all depends on what albums get released and what albums are already up there.
Noel would have to be extremely lucky...or bust his ass and be lucky...

Much of it depends on luck. To get to number 10. My pick of 10 was a if all goes right pick. But I do definitely believe that Top 15 is highly viable.

I want to say that the same week in 2009 Joss Stone had 27,000 at #10 It depends on who is heading up, who is heading down, and who is just getting on. There really is no rhythm nor reason to American charts.
