I know that noel has previously said that he is not a fan of naming the album after a song but STOP THE CLOCKS would make an excellent title. It would also fit in well in describing the current state of affairs for oasis... definately maybe- suggests the laid back, cocky swagger of a young hungry oasis in their youth. whats the story morning glory- is a call to arms of a new day rising-it is an almost taunting invite to a brilliant (retro)fresh experience be here now- is a command to attention-this is not a question (ie. WTSMG?) this is a direct command from a coked out leader-its a sneer that arogantly suggets that we listen without judgement (that he knows what we want more then we do ourselves)- stateing that it doesnt matter what the sound is, that the name of the band should be reason enough to capture and hold our attention. standing on the shoulder of giants- the swagger is gone...overstepping their importance on their previous disc they are now resigned to climb on top of their idols to be seen...one wonders, that maybe the perch wouldn't have been so shakey if they had used both shoulders heathen chemistry- a pleasent but desperate attempt to reproduce the formula that had been so successful at the start... stop the clocks- the band's last album- a final testament, one last clutch of songs that completes the legacy...and along with the previous albums (and so many singles) does indeed stop the clocks and allows their shining body of work to indeed live forever.

better not be their final album! I like your breakdown of albums but don't ever say that again! lol hey, i'm a huge, long time fan of oasis (i've seen them live eight times since 1994) but i just think that the name OASIS, and everything it represents, has become more of a hinderence to them then anything else... noel needs to blow up everything and start up again in a different direction. Oasis was/is all about being poor and young and full of ambition. Oasis was/is a stoned guigsy, and a barre chord strumming bonehead and a piss poor drummer who somehow managed to slap skins on the greatest album ever made. Oasis now is teetering far to close to rolling stone territory, pimping themselves out on yesterdays (morning) glory. Don't get me wrong, i'm not saying that noel should retire...he is still a melodic genius who has a ton of shit left to give to the musical world...i just think it is time to drop the name... btw, i know you guys will disagree but i also think that liam should walk away. i mean maybe his songs on the next album will prove me wrong but i got a feeling that without noel's production his stuff wouldn't be much (certainly everything other then songbird-a basic two chord ditty-would lean to liam being a very average, at best, songwriter)

I like liams songs quite a bit but i think yer right...without noel, they would at best be average. But I dont think they should drop the name...what good does that do??? it would do them more of a diservice, esp in the states where loads of people probably still rememeber the glory days...change the name=loss of record sales

Yeah I would really like "Stop The Clocks" as the name of the album.... I mean it's simple and it says so much.... or may be "I Wanna Live AS Dream IN a Record Machine" !
