why is this liverpool newspaper 2 months behind in reporting this RINGO Starr could be ready to dust off his drumsticks after he was invited to perform on a forthcoming Oasis album. Noel Gallagher has asked the legendary Beatles' drummer if he fancies smashing the cymbals on an as yet unnamed Oasis track for the Manchester band's eagerly awaited new CD. Speaking just days before Oasis are due to travel to Los Angeles to complete work on the album, Noel admitted it would Ringo's son, Zak Starkey, has been playing drums with the band but now Noel has revealed he wants Zak's dad to play too. be a dream come true to work alongside one of his musical heroes. "Zak will drum on the bulk of the album," said Noel. "And we're going to try - while we're out there - to get his dad down to the studio because he lives in LA. "We've got this one song which is quite... well, funnily enough, it sounds like the Beatles, and we're going to try and get him and his dad on the same track. "Then again Ringo might just tell us where to go." It is not yet known whether Ringo is prepared to take part in the proposed collaboration. However a source close to the ex-member of the Fab Four admitted he will take the offer seriously. "Ringo is a big fan of Oasis," he said. "He has been to see them play a few times, mostly to see his son Zak on the drums, and he really likes their music. "Whether he fancies drumming for them is another matter. He enjoys being out of the spotlight and it might be that he will politely refuse on this occasion source IC Liverpool

are you all forgetting the fact that ringo just isnt really that good of a drummer??? Imean its cool that he was in the beatles but it doesn't really excite me that he's going to be on the record...as far as ive heard, zak is better than his dad...i mean he did play for the who. Thoughts?

I dont know how people can say ringo is a bad drummer. he is really clumbsy, but that keeps his drumming interesting and exciting. as well, at least johnny depp isnt playing for them again

The original drummer from the beatles (Pete Best) was apparently a much better drummer than ringo...Im not saying that ringo wasn't hugely important to the beatles success, he totally fit the look they were trying to get and he could keep time...All I'm saying is that I don't think ringo's drumming will make much difference

John Lennon once said that Ringo wasn't even the best drummer in the beatles.

Yeah that was a great quote. I think it was a joke. An interviewer asked him if Ringo was the best drummer in the world and he said that he wasn't even the best drummer in Beatles. Pete Best was kicked out because he wasn't good enough. Ringo isn't bad.
He's not amazing, but not bad.

As far as I know, best was kicked out because he didn't fit the "look"... And ive also heard that on parts of abbey road, lennon/mcartney filled in on drum parts that ringo couldn't play (Im not sure if thats actually true)

actually, pete best was a very passionate man, so that created tension in the band. he was also known for skipping gigs as well (ringo replaced him, that's how the connection was made)
(how do i know this? there were anthology specials on abc in 1995/96, and i have one taped (the first one))
but i'll tell you this: ringo is a pretty good drummer, and his son is a chip off the old block.
