This poll is dedicated to BeadyEyeUnofficial who said: If BTL was up against Noel's shitty song, there would only be one winner...BTL would piss all over it. Happy polling, people

TDOYAM all the way still think BeadyEyeUnofficial is legendary though A legendary idiot. Every forum has one(or more like in L4E's case). Anyway, TDOYAM wins hands down. BTL is one of BDI's worst songs, its only redeeming quality is that it is better live.

i'm saying "bring the light." both are pretty mediocre songs, but at least BTL is different.

i'm saying "bring the light." both are pretty mediocre songs, but at least BTL is different. Actually, it's quite to the contrary. BTL is one of the most derivative songs I've ever heard, not even a grain of originality in the whole song. And whilst TDOYAM isn't strikingly orginal either, at least it has a strong melody and some fine instrumentation to go with it.

^^While you certanly can argue that, I woudl agree with NYR. BTL was a surprise and I think it grew on a lot of people after they got over the shock. TDOYAM was great but predictably great. Can't fault Noel for that but I got more out of Liam's offering.

I don't get an abstain option? *sigh* This is the polling station, you can abstain by not voting.

TDOYM didn't really surprise me, and kind of bored me like a lot of the songs Noel has written in the past few years.
BTL isn't great, but I was expecting worse.
They're both mediocre but i'd go with BTL probably getting more plays on my player.

TDOYAM sounded like everything Noel has written in the last 5-7 years. Little by Little, IOBI, Falling Down, Stop the Clocks, Record Machine - basically meandering uninspired tunes from an insanely wealthy uninspired songwriter. Noels classic songs were all written when he was young and hungry. you are not going to get an earth changing tune from a middle aged content guy. So slag Liam, Gem and Andy all you want but face the fact that the Chiefs best days are well behind him and enjoy His High Flying Birds for what it is.

So because Noel wrote one song (TIOBI) that kind of sounds almost a bit like TDOYAM, this is now Noel-by-numbers?
TDOYAM is better than anything Liam, Andy, or Gem have ever written, so I think I'll be going with that.

The poll isn't asking which is the better song (which I think TDOYAM wins), it's asking which song do you prefer. Which is a completely different question. When asking what you prefer, you don't have to have a specifically concrete reason. I prefer chocolate to vanilla. There's no reason, it's just what I prefer. So I get the statement. He prefers BTL because it was so unexpected, while Noel was expected. Again, the poll is which do you "prefer", not which do you think is better. I think that's what a lot of people are getting hung up on. I perfectly understand mkoasis' reasoning.
