A MULTI-MILLION pound restaurant franchise is opening its first UK outlet in Liverpool creating more than 30 jobs.
Eddie Rocket's, an Irish-owned 50s American diner chain, will open in the city centre within the next week.
The firm, whose 20 diners span Europe, the USA and Africa, will open in Bold Steet this month following a £380,000 refit of the premises.
Founded in 1990 by Dublin-based entrepreneur Niall Fortune, the firm records an annual turnover of £25m and employs a workforce of 500.
Mr Fortune, 48, said: "We chose Liverpool as it's very similar to Dublin because of the fact that it's a young, vibrant and dynamic city. Liverpool is entering a progressive development phase with a lot of exciting projects in the pipeline such as the European Capital of Culture."
Rocket's boasts U2, Noel Gallagher and Michael Flatley as customers and specialises in 50s and 60s food.
Operations director Jonathan Parkhill said: "We're honoured to open in the lively and bustling city of Liverpool.
"We're looking forward to opening the doors in mid-November and we're confident that people will really enjoy the Eddie Rocket's experience, the food and the authentic 1950s atmosphere."
