That is actually hilariously very similar but somehow I can't imagine Noel heard this song before

Hopefully this will mitigate the Instant Karma "cover" shitty talk.
TDOYAM is still great. I don't think he stole the vocal melody from anyone

It's different enough. Even so, TDOYAM is a better song.

It don't think it really sounds very similar.
People are obsessed with trolling through trying to find stuff that sounds any any way similar and claiming it as a rip off.

Its a common rhythm. There are loads of songs like this. Don't people listen to anything non Oasis related around here?

it has a simulair tone and feel, so who cares?
Death of You and Me is better, and it different enough that it doesn't matter

There are *ucking billion musicians in the whole world with centillion songs...and every new song will be less or more similar at least with one existing song. Personally, Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn about ripp off talks with NG and BE. Song is brillant and mega original, enjoy if you like it or if you don't like it, put something else. End of story.

There's a relatively limited number of chords and their combinations. It's not heathen chemistry when you actually can discover something completely new by combining the elements.
This Pino Daniele song has a similar feel to it, but it's not an uncommon rythm. If Noel did hear it, I'd call it an inspiration not a rip-off.

i'd call it a rip off So would I, and frankly I don't care. The only thing that bugs is the notion that its ok for Noel but if Beady Eye wear their influences on their sleeve it's daylight robbery. Like the OP said, Noel has written literally a handful of truely original songs since the turn of the millenium. But as long as he's still writing (to a point) good tunes, which TDOYAM and TGR are, then I could care less.

Really not that similar to call it a ripoff (as if Noel sits around listening to Italian music anyway). The thing they have in common is the i-V chord change...but it's nowhere near a carbon copy.

I'm actually a little pissed at how stupid people are for calling this a ripoff. Are you really that stupid? It kind of makes me ashamed of being on this forum when I read stuff like this.

noel has likely heard this song he loves morricone. Exactly, and the fact it starts off with a little arpeggio bit just like The Death of You And Me makes it pretty clear to me that this song was the influence. It's definitely nowhere near plagiarism, of course, just amuses me that there's always a tune out there somewhere that he's nicked the idea from a bit. For the first half (or more) of his career his songs were more like a collage of subtle steals that formed a very Noel Gallagher whole but recently I've noticed a trend towards more direct and indiscreet borrowing. Mucky Fingers is I'm Waiting For The Man. Part of The Queue is Golden Brown. Shakermaker aside, he didn't used to do that back in the day. I think it's from a desire to bring more variation to the sound of his output and unfortunately he's resorted to using bigger brush strokes.
